Western Mountaineering MityLite Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Down - 2006

The Western Mountaineering MityLite 40F Sleeping Bag is just the ticket for a lightweight summer get away or a spontaneous trip to Europe when you expect to spend your nights at the local hostels. This sewnthru semi-rectangular sleeping bag can be zipped to Western Mountaineering's Summer Coupler to sleep two, saving you even more weight by eliminating the need for two sleeping bags. At 1lb 10oz and with a .9 ounce ripstop shell this bag folds away into nothing for an easy carry. Made with the highest quality down, the MityLite will retain its original loft for ages.

Bottom Line: Get this semi-rectangular sleeping bag and use it as a lightweight comforter all year.

4 nights in the Olympics

By:
September 19, 2005

We just returned from spending four nights in the High Divide, using our Mitylite with its summer coupler. The temps dropped down to about 37 degrees, but the bag performed well. I sleep warm and spent most nights in shorts and a T with my zip down part way. My wife sleeps cold and slept in her medium weight fleece. We were both happy with the bag. We had a 15 degree Ponderosa we could've taken, but it wasn't necessary.

Comfy summer nights

This bag, like all Western mountaineering products, is the crème de la crème. Super-comfy down, and the ability to compress to the size of a softball, make this bag my first choice on all my warm weather excursions. I have put this bag through the ringer for the past two years, and it still lofts like the day I got it. It is also compatible with a coupler kit (sold separately), which turns it into a two person “love sack.”
