Volkl Unlimited AC50 Alpine Ski w/ Motion iPT Wide Ride 12.0 D Binding

When powder seems like a distant memory and you're almost on the verge of tears, climb into the Volkl Unlimited AC50, open up the throttle, and see how the other side gets its jollies. With its GS-spec sidecut and integrated, free-flexing Marker Motion iPT binding system, this ski RIPS on hard snow, period. Volkl's Extended Double Grip design applies every calorie of effort directly to the edges, giving the AC50 the appearance of a mid-fat but the grip of a race-room slalom ski when you lean it over. Meanwhile, dual titanium-alloy sheets sandwich the AC50's full-length wood core, giving you power and dampness to handle cheek-rippling velocities. Should you find yourself atop a crud field or a mogul run, don't panic; the AC50's dimensions mean it can and will perform admirably in adverse conditions, and it'll even ski powder if you sleep through the forecast. But make no mistake: the AC50 is bred to go fast, and the Unlimited name is referring to your opportunities for pass revocation.

Bottom Line: Faster...FASTER! KILL! KILLLLL!!!

I always wax a pair of ski's when I bring them home for the first time. That's how you know for sure what the bottoms are prepped for.

Ski companies put a factory wax on the ski when it is produced, however, there is usually a significant amount of time in between the production and the sale of the time so waxing the skis is definitely recommended.

The Bomb

I scored these puppies off of BC's Tramdock site. :)

By far the best all-mtn ski I have ever ridden (and I've ridden a few dozen). I've skied them @ 8 times so far and have not even begun to find their limits. They command respect from piles of Eastern crud, hold an edge on ice like a figure skate, and simply do not chatter--at least at speeds of up to 30-35 (as far as I have pushed them so far).

It's a beefy ski so if you need to do more than a few very tight jump turns back to back in a narrow spot, you better be strong.

Only, and I mean only downside, is that my 184s are only passable in the bumps.

I have Volkl EXP 724s, same length, and can tear up the bumps vs the AC50s. But if you want a ski that won't let you down in any other condition the AC50 is your board.

Simply the best--even at near retail prices.
