Volkl Kuro Alpine Ski
Volkl Kuro Alpine Ski
The Kuro is back with a vengeance as the fatty in the Volkl freeride lineup, with ELP rocker and a new longer length to keep you stuck on the surface of bottomless fluff like an Alaskan oil slick. In powder that would hide the average toddler standing on a trash can, the Kuro’s decidedly un-svelte 132mm waist lets you float, smear, slarve, and otherwise play like it’s recess time. Volkl beefed up the Kuro’s construction for the 2010 season, adding extra insurance against binding and sidewall issues when you’re charging hard and tipping these gargantuan planks on edge.
- Elongated Low Profile rocker dramatically enhances deep-snow maneuverability while retaining effective edge contact
- Traditional sidecut underfoot for return-run carving capability
- Poplar Sensorwood core for lasting pop, carbon base layer for weightless damping, ash for mounting zone
- Composite/fiberglass-wrapped Tough Box mid-body core improves screw retention and impact strength
Bottom Line: I like the deep and the size does matter. I like the skis when they're big and fatter.
