Volkl Bridge Alpine Ski

Volkl created the Bridge Alpine Ski for one-ski-quiver seekers who lap the park all day when the sun shines, then take their tricks out to the big-mountain soft stuff when it snows. The Bridge Ski joins bomber resilience, plenty of pop, and powder-ready girth to create a ski that can specialize in what you love—pulling moves and laying down lines that would make mama proud.

  • Multi-layer Power core places dense wood in the binding area for secure screw retention and light, responsive wood throughout the rest of the core
  • Tough Box construction incorporates a fiberglass sheath for strength and torsional rigidity
  • 92mm width underfoot and fat 130mm shovel floats in the soft stuff, carves on the hardpack, and dices crud
  • Twin tip design is park-ready and shows off on sidecountry kickers

Bottom Line: The badass Bavarians at Volkl know a thing or two about all-mountain freeskiing.

Could a beginning skier be able to ride this ski, and then really improve?
I'm trying to find my friend a ski that he can use for 4+ years, and by then he will be a good, advanced skier by then.

I am 65 years old - upper intermediate/ low level expert, 200

I am 65 years old - upper intermediate/ low level expert, 200 lbs, 6feet ski mainly New England and France. I need a pair of all mountain skis suitable for crud and hard pack. occasional heavy powder. Have been looking at Volkl Bridge and am tempted by shortest length for manouverability and travel convenience. Do you have any advice?

If you are just mainly hanging around NE with the occasional trip to France, you might want to look at another ski, like the k2 Recon. I have these skis and only take them out on powder days and my trips out west. I may be 28 and really like to rip down the mountian, I don't use these skis for that. They are great in knee to mid thigh deep snow. Ive had great powder days in UT on them and some great powder days in VT. These are a little too much work to turn and on groomers, and have some nice chatter at high speeds. I only use them in fresh snow and in the woods. I would look into a pair of skis with a system binding. My other set of skis is the K2 Crossfire Apache which has a system binding. I let my 58 yr old father with back problems use them and he doesn't hurt anymore after a nice cold day in VT. The skis may be a little heavier but they turn and respond great.

You are going to need at least the 177cm ski, if not the 185cm. For hardpack, you want as much edge as you can, and you can have a longer ski at your size. For crud, you will need the stability to smash through and not get bucked, and for powder, you will really appreciate the float of the longer ski so you don't get tired out earlier in the day.
