Snorkeling through fresh pow is scrumptious. Unless you're getting wet and cold. Spyder made the Poacher Jacket with Gore-Tex waterproof breathable fabric and fully taped seams, so you get bomber weather protection throughout winter storms. Light insulation and a removable hood provide warmth as you wait for the first chair, and Underarm zips help cool you off after a few warm-up runs. The Spyder Poacher Jacket's grippy powder skirt and internal Lycra sleeve cuffs block snow, and internal pockets hold your goggles and music player.
Bottom Line: You won't have to wait until after the storm to poach the pow when you're wearing Spyder's waterproof breathable jacket.
I purchased the Venom Pacher jacket in Ghost/Ghost last season and have been very happy with it. The jacket is made of excellent material and regulates temperature both on cold and warm days better than other jackets I have had (e.g. Helly Hansen, Descente).
Please not that the sizes seem to run a little big - I initially ordered a medium but had to exchange for a small even though I am 5'9".
This is my first Spyder product: Lots of pockets, lots of options, Gore-Tex and a great looking piece, what more can you ask for? The venting properties of the Gore-tex membrane combined with the pit zip and back vents allowed for some very comfortable boarding in warm temps this past weekend. Its nice to be able to lie down in the snow at the side of a run and take in the beautiful atmosphere of mountains all around, and NOT have to worry about soaking through your jacket. Everything on this jacket from the zippers to buttons is top quality, sometimes you do get what you pay for!
Just wear this coat on the first powder day of the season and you will be happy you made this choice. Technical is the typical description for clothing these days, but I describe this gear as superior. After countless sessions of deliberation the Spyder R&D and design teams have pondered and tested every aspect of this technical outerwear to encompass every bit of possible technology yet keep it lightweight and comfortable.
Despite the unique pristine white color, no one commented on my new coat, thus leading me to conclude it is aptly named "Poacher". I seemed to be invisible to all. Very soft, very warm, more pockets and bells and whistles than can possibly be useful. Kept me comfortable in 10 - 25 degree weather at Alta.
I bought this thing on sale and couldn't be more happy. It is loose fitting, but relatively thin so it doesn't look like you are a snow man out there. It is very warm and has an adequate amount of pockets for a day on the slopes. I wore under armor,a tee, and the coat and never got cold in the 5 degree whiteout. There couldn't get a better jacket
This is a heavy jacket. (Weight) That could be good for skiers and boarders that get lost. Has a sewn in red X on the inside to get aircrafts attention! Weather Permitting!
This jacket looks GREAT, but I haven't used in on the slopes yet. Lots of pockets, cool microfiber goggle drying cloth in one of the pockets. I look forward to diving into blizzard conditions with this jacket next season....
