Vasque Velocity VST XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Vasque Spine Technology helps the waterproof Velocity VST XCR eat up rough singletrack like a hungry bear in a fish factory. A hard, but flexible TPU strike plate runs between the midsole and tread, stabilizing your stride, defending against rocks, and dispersing shock to a SEBS gel insert in the heel. A TPU cage welded over the Airmesh and Gore-Tex XCR upper allows maximum breathability without sacrificing strength or support. Vasque's Mako outsole design maintains supreme grip in muddy trail conditions.

Bottom Line: Without VST, your shoes are spineless.

I'd buy them again

By:
May 26, 2009

I heard these were the most popular shoe on the Appalachain Trail in 2008 so I had to try them out. Not the most comfortable shoe but they seem like the would hold up well after a ton of miles on the trail.

Good shoes

By:
November 21, 2008

I got the wide for my EE width foot. They are pretty narrow for a wide shoe, but they fit OK. Nice and light. Soles are pretty thick, I feel tall. Had them out for one hike in the snow, the waterproofing seems to work nicely. I like the tread, it should hold up well.

I was wondering if these would be good runners for me. I run

I was wondering if these would be good runners for me. I run 95% off road flat feet w/ slight under pronation. if not can you suggest a trail runner that would fit the bill and goretex is a must (lots of muck and snow)

This wouldn't be too bad of a shoes for what you're looking to fill, although I don't think the muck comes out of these soles as easily as others. I would recommend you look at the La Sportiva Ultra Noord. They'll help with under pronation and dispel the crap out of the soles extremely well. Plus they come with gators.Hope that helps.

Shoe goo anyone?

By:
April 30, 2009

Not a bad shoe but DONT PAY TOP PRICE!! The Na Pali coast trail did some damage to the useless mesh on the shoes. The sole does'nt stand up to the high desert of Oregon all too well either (but i havent found a shoe sole that does!). The sole is seperating from the shoe and large pieces of the sole are actually gone! I have used some shoe goo to remide this issue and have yet to lose any more of the sole. Now i have had these for about 6 months but for the price i was hoping they would last a bit longer.

Great shoes for grass and dirt running

By:
April 6, 2009

I've been looking for a pair of shoes like these for years. I run my 4 Australian Shepherds in agility, mostly on grass but occasionally on dirt. It's often wet or muddy. My trainer has had a pair of the women'd version for a while but I never thought to look for it in a men's version. She loves them so much that she found them on sale and bought 3 pairs at once. i find them comfortable for my wide over-pronating feet. Combine them with a pair of water-repellent bike socks and my feet stay warm and dry all day long at a trial.
