Vasque Velocity GTX XCR Trail Shoes - Men's - 2007

The Vasque Velocity GTX XCR is a serious trail shoes for runners who demand the best of everything. Vasque went above and beyond the call of duty when selecting materials for these trail runners. They built a TPU-reinforced Airmesh synthetic upper and lined it with Gore-Tex XCR to make them as breathable as possible while keeping them totally waterproof. They also threw in a Dual Density EVA midsole to reduce pronation and increase stability so you can run with confidence.

Bottom Line: Top of the class for trail running and ultralight hiking.

benefit of doubt

I already owned Vasque Velocity - NOT GTX. I thought Velocity GTX would be like its non-Gore-Tex counterpart. Sorta. The ankle area is puffier due to another layer in construction. I soon noticed the left shoe had to be tied a half inch closer together than the right. After four days,I started to have pain due to the booties forming a number of lumps around the inner shoe perimeter. Thereafter, I encountered significant snow - waterproof aspect was outstanding. They are well designed and sturdy. The shoe last is a bit curved and for someone who needs extra toe box room, the little toe may feel a bit impinged.

My third pair

I love these shoes. They are rigid enough for hiking, but flexible enough to run in. They are also considered a mid-rise, which gives them great ankle support, and the mostly-mesh upper has amazing ventilation, largely due to the Gore-Tex XCR. I actually use these as my backpacking "boot" because I'm an ultralighter and rarely carry more than 25lbs. They are more than adequate for this type of use. I also use the non-Gore-Tex model for my tennis shoes. I can see why they've garnished several awards for these. They're outstanding!

best vasque cross yet

Incredible cushioning around the entire foot plus great ankle and arch support. These’s no need for overpriced replacement footbeds, the soles grip like a goat.

Great trail shoe

Got these for trail running/snow shoeing and love them! The polycarb plate in the sole means no stingers from rocks/roots, and the Gore lining means feet stay dry (and warm in the colder months).

Vasque Velocity GTX XCR Trail Shoes - Men's

By:

These shoes are great. I over pronate and have trouble finding a stable shoe for street and trail running. The Velocity handles both well. Also, I’ve taken it out on the trail while carrying my lightweight backpacking kit (23#). Once again, the shoes were superb. Nice fit, snug laces, and black with subdued trim colors (no flashy orange or yellow here). Even looks good with casual clothes making them a great choice for travel.
