Vasque Ranger GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Lace up the Vasque Men’s Ranger GTX Hiking Boot before you head into the mountains for the day. Vasque made this boot with waterproof leather to give you durability on the rocky trails, while ensuring your feet aren’t soaked through when you stomp through snow, slush, water, or mud. The mesh inserts in the upper offer breathability on hot days, and the dual density EVA footbed and midsole give you the support and comfort you need for long days on rough terrain. When the ground gets soaked, or ices over in winter, the Vasque Strider rubber sole keeps you on your feet.

Bottom Line: Burly protection for your big treks.

I'm looking for a boot that is light and waterproof, to double

I'm looking for a boot that is light and waterproof, to double for summer hiking, and mountain snowshoeing. These are advertised as solid against snow. Is the Waterproofing reliable/snow proof? Would these serve as my desired dual purpose boots?

This are waterproof and would hold up well for what you're looking to do. But depending on how cold it is in the winter and how cold you're feet normally are, you might have some cold toes with this boot. Its difficult to find the boot that will do both summer and winter...

Vasque Ranger

I have 2 pair of the older style ( 2007 - 08 ) - excel for the price ( $89.) - I like a flexible sole, kinda a high top sneaker with more durability. soles seem to have good grip on rocks. the leather is a little thin, but I think with thicker leather, the inner lining wears anyway. also, I put in quality aftermarket insoles , adds to the price but upgrades boot.

size I think is right on, maybe just a little larger than the N.B. sneakers I buy. ( 10.5 N.B. , 10 Ranger)

vasque makes some of their boots in wide. I am a 10.5 EE and they have a very comfortable boot in that size.

Love these boots!!!

Well I bought a pair ofthe Vasque Ranger GTX boots and I have no regrets what so ever. I bought mine a month ago and have already logged quite a few miles in them to date. Very comfortable, light and waterproof. The mesh is breathable and waterproof and my feet don't get very sweaty in them. Also there was little to no break in time with these boots.I hiked in them a week after I purchased and never had a sore spot or any discomfort to speak of. I would recomend this boot to anybody looking for a lightweight, sturdy, waterproof hiking boot. The Last pair of Vasque boots I owned lasted me 13 years. I hope to have these for a long time as well.

Do these shoes have a tendancy to pick up small rocks. I don't want to be scuffing up my hardwood floors.

I am pretty sure most hiking boots will have a tendency to pick up small rocks on any trail. But they might fall out just as quick as they get picked up. You might also be able to feel through the sole of the shoe where you got a rock stuck. But I would say if your using them as an everyday shoe, no problem- But if your going to do a high peak or a 14 mile day trip- take them off before you cross into the hardwood area.

I wear a 10-10 1/2, would like to get these for cooler weather

I wear a 10-10 1/2, would like to get these for cooler weather hiking. Should I order a size 11 for thicker socks or just go with a 10&1/2 ? thanks

Def you should get the 10 1/2. These boots don't seem that they will stretch out a whole bunch. The boot calls for snow, so I'm guessing that they got a good layer of insu in them. So your reg foot socks for hiking should be adequate. Plus you get free shipping!!
