Vasque Radiator Mountaineering Boot - Men's

The temperature is below freezing at your high altitude, but the Vasque Men's Radiator Mountaineering Boots are keeping your feet toasty warm. This crampon-compatible double boot thrives on multi-day high altitude ascents and ice climbing trips. Boa closure technology locks your foot in without making you take your gloves off to lace up, and Aerogel insulation holds in the heat. Vasque made the upper out of Tec Tuff PU leather so the Radiator can take on the harsh elements as well as withstand the rugged knock-around abuse of your climbing adventures.

Bottom Line: The Vasque Radiator Boot takes you to higher ground.

how much support do these give? i'm looking for a good double

how much support do these give? i'm looking for a good double boot for snowboard mountaineering, capable of decent ice climbing feel, but have been discouraged by the thickness of the sole under the heel of boots like the nupste, nepal evo gtx, and the baruntse. i would rather not be seperated from the deck of my board by another 2 inches anyone have any suggestions?

I used the BD Sabretooth Clip crampons and they worked great with the Radiators . . . had no problems.

Any bailed/step in cramon will be great with this boot, such as the black diamond contact. Just don't get ones with vertical aggressive front points.

Just wore these for the first time on a three day mountaineering trip in the high peaks of the adirondack mountains. Temps reached -20/30and the BOOTS performed outstanding.
Boots where very comfortable with no break time. RECOMMED this product to any winter adventure seeker.

I am concerned about the BOA system failing in the backcountry. Is there a way to fix a broken wire in the field, or is this something you have to send back to Vasque to repair? Could a lace be rigged in a pinch?

Steve is WRONG!!! If the cable breaks, under the flaps are lace loops large enough for any emergency laces you could think of, not rope, but cord or runners. Please do some homework before damning a fine product.

I totally understand your concern. There is a definite risk in this system breaking. The only real way to fix it is send them back to Vasque. The only bummer about these boots is the lacing system. There's no way to rig regular laces in these. Great boots, just iffy lacing.Hope that helps.

boa, lacing, and side effects

so far i have been very happy with these boots. the toebox is a bit soft, so don't kick it into a rock wall too many times. ultra comfy, and a superior fit for my foot.

i also was concerned about the boa system breaking, if you lift the flaps on the sides you will discover pre sewn lace loops underneath them. so, you could take one of your dyneema slings and lace them up if it did break.

the only regret i have from buying these boots is all the irritating junk mail i now get from backcountry.com long after the thrill of my new boots has worn off, i'll still be getting bs from bc.com

How do these compare to vasque Ice 9000 or generally to plastic

How do these compare to vasque Ice 9000 or generally to plastic mountaineering boots? Would they work on Aconcagua? And what about Denali?

They were given the best in gear review by rock and Ice, these are designed as a high altitude boot, and ya they'd work on aconcagua or denali, but with that being said bring overboots frost bite...well bites. For me i would take these hands down to the 9000 or other mountaineering boots. Especially with the "Ergo-Therm" lining.
