Vasque M-Possible SS Mountaineering Boot - Men's

When a typical winter Saturday finds you hanging by your ice tools and frontpointing out an overhung limestone cave to a massive curtain of ice, lace up the Vasque Men’s M-Possible SS Mountaineering Boot and push your M-grade to the limit. This technical boot features a polyurethane-coated leather and abrasion-resistant SuperFabric upper, to keep water out and resist punctures from crampons. Vasque backed the upper with Thinsulate insulation, a waterproof membrane, and a Reflexion heat-reflecting liner for warmth. Aspen Aerogel keeps your foot comfortable, while a carbon fiber insole board provides the stiffness necessary for aggressive monopoint moves, and the Vibram Mulaz outsole gives you assured grip on the slick approach. Vasque included a pair of softshell mini-gaiters to keep out rocks and ice chunks.

Bottom Line: Forget fruit boots and heel spurs. Redefine mixed climbing possibilities with the M-Possible SS.

So far so good...

By:

I just got back from an Ouray trip and I bought these while I was down there. I'd been looking at them for a while and wanted to try them on before I bought them. I have pretty narrow feet and these fit very well with a thick pair of socks. The weather was pretty mild, so it wasn't the best test for warmth. I noticed on the second day that the bottoms of my feet started to get a little sore, but I'm guessing that's because I hadn't broken them in much yet. I'm also hoping the upper softens up a little because I had a little bit of soreness where my ankle transitions to the top of my foot - again probably because I hadn't really broken them in. They come with a set of ankle gaiters that clip on to the boots, but you have to remember to put them on first before you put your boots on. So far, I am satisfied with them. I look forward to putting them through some harsher alpine conditions in the North Cascades.

Good first try

By:

These were my first try at mountaineering boots. I found the fit to be too big and I discovered a real need for plastic boots with removable liners. They served their purpose, but I will look for more of a multi day friendly boot next time.
