It's raining like crazy on your three-day backpacking trip, but your feet are dry and comfortable inside the Vasque Women's Breeze XCR Hiking Shoes. Their waterproof breathable Gore-Tex XCR linings keep out moisture no matter how hard it rains. The mid-height Breeze XCR Hiking Shoes support your ankles when you're shouldering a heavy pack and Vibram Contact soles provide excellent traction on the muddy trails. A plastic Flexframe 1 Plate separates the Breeze XCR's midsole from outsole. The frame has an excellent forward flex, but limits twisting to keep your ankles stable.
Bottom Line: Wet, slick trails are no problem when you're backpacking in the Vasque Breeze XCR Hiking Shoes.
I recently bought these boots and am in the process of breaking them in. I've never had an easier time breaking in backpacking shoes than I'm having with these Vasque. They have a lot more flex to them than many other boots I tried on but still provide a lot of support. I was happy to see that they were only $160 as I've spent a lot more in the past to find something I was happy with. Buy these for sure!
I've worn these boots several times so far. Theyve been worn winter camping, hiking 6+ hours twice, once in off-and-on rain. I have fairly wide and sensitive feet. Often, shoes will not be comfortable. These were from the beginning. It took me a few times to break them in. I have a narrow, somewhat bony ankle and the back of the boot rubbed the back of my ankle a bit at first, nothing that moleskin and tying the shoelace one notch lower couldnt remedy. Considering each time Ive worn them Ive really put them to the test, Id say theyve been great. After hiking 7 hrs. or so in off-and-on rain, crossing muddy & wet areas, I expected my feet to be wet. My socks were bone dry. I was very pleased. When I wore them camping, they stayed warm until nightfall. I could then feel a slight draft on the top parts of my feet. I didnt mind, it was probably about 30° and dropping at that point. Id rather have a shoe that can breathe a bit when Im hiking. They are flexible enough to be comfortable. Ive only worn them once with a heavy backpack, but it wasnt for much more than an hour. They seemed supportive enough though I cant comment on what a longer backpacking hike might feel like. I would recommend them. My fussy feet were happy and they met my expectations.
I have been trying to read something regarding the temps that this boot will accommodate. Can you please let me know the lowest comfortable temp I can use these boots in?
Their is no temp rating. It has mesh side panels to let your feet breath, or to let water out if you step in a river or something like that. This is more of a spring, summer and early fall boot. Not really made for winter wear.
I bought my Breeze XCR Hiking Boots for my hiking trip in California, so I got to test them in Yosemite and Mt. Whiteny. My first experience with them was that they were heavy and during my short 4-5 hours hikes they managed to both blister and wound my feet. Also they did not seem very breathable to me. On my hike to Mt. Whitney I used proper hiking socks and my experience changed. The boots were breathable and in 14 hours of hiking they only moderately accentuated my wounds. They have good grip on granite type rock, but I never got to test them in wet conditions. I would recommend these boots as long as you wear them with proper socks and you do not have very sensitive feet.
I've had these boots for 3 years and have put many miles on them from pouring rain to dry hot days. I've even enjoyed them winter hiking and they are the boots I use to snowshoe. They are an all around great boot for all conditions. I use them for day hikes and backpacking trips and find them to be extremely comfortable, and amazingly dry. I have completely submerged my foot into streams and puddles and have dry feet. I've never had a blister or a hot spot, and I backpack at about 15 miles per day. These have a roomy toe box, and fit my wide foot well.
I have previously worn Vasgue boots and have been happy with them. I was told that they are now wider than they used to be, is that true? I am very narrow at the ankle. Any tips? Iusually have to wear 2 pair of socks; a thin running and a medium thickness hiking sock. Are any other brands better? Thanks!
these are my first pair of nice hiking boots. I love them. I wear them when ever it is wet And every time I hike.Great support and traction. They are very comfortable. No blisters and no wet socks!
Good, comfortable boots. I didn't need any time to break them in. These fit me true to size and kept my feet completely dry while hiking in the snow or when I had to cross streams. I definitely recommend these.
I need a wide boot that gives me comfort through the toe box. I tried a timberland that did not come in wide. It was very uncomfortable. I am worried about purchasing this boot without 'wide' next to the sizing. Should that be a concern or does anyone know how to order it in a 'wide'.
Lowa makes a great Goretex boot that I wear quite a bit when running with my search dogs. Comfy, wide toe area which is great as my foot is quite wide and honestly this is the first boot that I don't take off due to my toe area throbbing!
This boot has been nothing but fantastic in the short time I have owned it. Very comfortable, good support in the arch and ankle area, and it wasn't to hard to break it! I did have a little rubbing on the back of the heal, but I think that was more of a sock issue then boot. Very happy with purchase at this time!
I bought these after falling in love with the foot bed of the Montrail Molokai flip flop. They are ready-to-wear comfort. No need for the orthotics for short hikes. They are weatherproof and super sturdy so they will be great fall/winter long hauls. These will serve as my winter snow shoe & rain boot too, as long as the fluff is under a foot.
I just returned from 3 weeks hiking in Nepal with these boots. No blisters or pain in my feet. The boots stayed in great condition considering what they were put through. Thanks
I went on several three and four day hikes trying to break in these boots for my hike on the JMT. No matter what sock configuration I tried, and how many miles I racked up, these boot still gave me problems. By the end of each day I was fighting blisters and my feet ached. When i finally embarked on the 17 day hike, I laced them up with reservation and by day three they were tied my pack like paper weights and I was hiking in my trail runners. I donated my vasques as soon as i could pawn them off to another hiker and had my mom send in some keens with my food resupply. couldn't have been happier, with no break in time my feet were warm dry and blister free! these boots were not for me!
These are the bomb...I have hiked Kili and the Inca trail in them as well as a number of other trails. I changed out the insoles for the perfect fit. They were comfy on my 1st hike. The Gore-tex is worth every extra penny. I have hiked hours through rain and snow, always with dry feet...not necessarily warm, but definitely dry and ready to go again the next day. They are 2 years old and still going strong.
These felt like running shoes from day one--they needed next to no break-in time, had removable insoles so I could use my trusty orthotics, and served me extremely well both on the trails around home (Shenandoah Nat'l Park) and on a recent trek on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. They were stable and saved my ankles from catastrophe on numerous occasions over thousands of uneven, rocky stairs, and weathered not one but two Andean thunderstorms with flying colors; after hours hiking in the rain and mud, my feet were bone dry and blister free. These boots are worth every penny you pay for them.
I have a wide foot and I ordered a pair of women's Vasque hiking boots, they were too narrow and hurt my feet. I was told that the Vasque boots were made a little wider than other boots and wide sizes were not available. So I purchased a pair of mens Vasque hiking boots and I love them, great fit. I just got back from a bear hunt and I had no problems with wet feet or blisters with these boots. Good Luck!!
I work outdoors, mainly in wooded areas, and I needed a boot with slight ankle support, waterproof, and breathable; for all weather conditions (I work year round, in all types of weather) I have had the boots for several weeks, and they keep my feet cool on hot days, and dry on rainy ones. The only con, was for the first few days the back seam rubbed into the back of my ankles. Soon the seam stretched a bit and now it fits fine. This is my second pair of Vasque Breeze but not the GTX, and I love them, they are the only boots I use for work and trail hiking.
These boots are extremely comfortable and worth every penny. I wore them walking around Washington D.C. for 8 hours when they were brand new without any discomfort so it is true there is no break-in period required. They keep my feet warm and dry but never hot. I'm very happy I spent the extra money to get something of such superior quality.
I haven't had the chance to work these boots in too much yet, but they are overall pretty comfortable. I have had a hard time with the backs of them rubbing up against my achilles tendon and it's caused some pain (mostly in my left foot due to driving a clutch) and I think some thicker socks would help that. However, each time, it's less and less of a bother. They have great traction and there is quite a bit of roomy toe space. I had to buy a size larger than I usually wear because they ran small, but I'm guessing a half-size up would be just as good. They seem to be quite supportive of my high-arch as well. I'd say I like the boots!
I LOVE these boots. There was no break-in period for these and they fit my big, wide feet perfectly. Recently went on a 16-day trip with a few big hikes, and at the end of each hike my feet were happy and had no sores or blisters anywhere. When we hiked Wheeler Peak in NV, these performed even better than I thought - I am terribly klutzy but didn't have to worry about slipping on the rocky trail, as the vibram soles performed wonderfully. The ankle support is great as well - there were many moment where I would have been hurt in my old hiking boots. I LOVE these boots and highly recommend them
