With high cuffs and Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membranes, the Vasque Women's Boreas GTX Hiking Boots support your ankles when you're shouldering heavy loads and help block moisture on wet backpacking trails. A combination of waterproof nubuck, split leather, and airmesh nylon fabric in the uppers aids the Gore-Tex membranes with weather protection and breathability. The Boreas GTX Boots' molded insoles ensure correct heel placement, flex point, and lateral stability while you're hiking, and the Vibram outsoles provide grip when the going gets steep and slick.
Bottom Line: Waterproof, breathable, and supportive for long days on the trail.
i ordered a pair of the vasque boreas but had to return them. i have short square toes and these boots were a bit narrow for me---left my little piggies piggy-backing a bit. seemed like good sturdy boots and light weight.
Wore these right out of the box on a two day hike-very comfy! No blisters, great support, and stayed dry after climbing river beds. One part of the trip stepped into deeper mud that came in over the top of the boot. Dried out quickly overnight and were ready the next day. Also are the most stylist boots I could find for girls, as well ;)
Write your question here... Should I order one half size up on these boots? I usually wear heavy to med. smart wool sock. Also, I have a wide toe box, the rest of my foot is med. It looks like these have a generous toe box.
These boots are amazing.. I was very hesitant to buy hiking boots because many of my friends complain about how heavy and uncomfortable they are. Right out of the box I hiked through steep rocky terrain in the Appalachian Mountains, through bogs, and streams. No wet feet.. no sore ankles, blister free, I'm in love. I ordered a 1/2 size larger, as suggested, and wear one pair of socks. My feet are on the wider size and I had absolutely no problem with them, hope this helps!
I really like these boots. If you like to hike in boots that feel like tennis shoes, that are easy to break in, and aren't too heavy, these are perfect. I crossed 8 or 9 streams in these, consecutively, and the GoreTex kept my feet completely dry. The Vibram sole doesn't hurt either. However, if you're carrying a heavier pack, as opposed to the 30 lbs. I'm used to, you may need a heavier shoe than this. Other than that, they're great!
The Boreas is the little sister to the Zephyr II Men's Hiking shoe and lives up to every part of the Vasque name. The sole is amazingly rugged and offers 2 stability controls to prevent pronation and supination. Gore-tex is alawys a plus. Plus, the soles are "scratch and sniff" peppermint smelling and prevent the boots from stinking too badly right away.
Bought these boots to hike the White Mountains of New Hampshire. They run true to size, light weight, stylist, gave support to the ankles and above all very comfortable for a full day of hiking.
