Vasque Boreas GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

A Gore-Tex membrane in the Vasque Men's Boreas GTX Hiking Boot keeps your feet dry and breathing as you hike deep into the Cascade Mountains. Waterproof nubuck and split leather in the upper provide padded comfort, and Airmesh nylon gives your foot much-needed ventilation while you trek higher and farther away from civilization. Vasque gave the Boreas GTX a Vibram Viking sole to provide you with the burliest traction and support around, and an impact-absorbing dual-density EVA midsole to protect your feet after miles of travel.

Bottom Line: Take to the mountains like a Viking to the uncharted sea.

Absolutely not. These boots are very narrow at the toes.

Very pleased...so far!

Very comfortable right out of the box. 26 miles of hiking the Appalachian Trail in Virginia after only one week of break-in at work. These boots held up nicely. Light weight, but maybe too light weight for extended periods of carrying heavy loads. The price was right at Backcountry.com and I'm very please with my purchase.

I tried these boots on, and found them very comfortable and they seemed well made, but I wanted to do a bit more research before buying. Does anyone own/has worn these boots who can attest my own impression?

To tell you the truth, when I first tried these boots on I thought they felt very uncomfortable (too narrow and "hard feeling"). But I bought them. The first day I wore them within 1 hour I got used to the different shape of these boots and enjoyed the unique fit as much as my broken in merrel outbacks. At the end of a 9 hour day the only complaint I had is that they don't have much cushion in them.

Solid boots.

When I first tried on these boots they were extremely uncomfortable. They seemed too narrow and they felt very solid and unforgiving. But I was able to buy them for 75% off at the store I work so I figured I could use an extra pair of hiking boots. I've been breaking them in at work for about 2 weeks now and I find them oddly comfortable. But by the end of a 9 hour day I do start to notice the lack of cushion inside the boot. It feels like standing on a big slab of rubber. These boots would be awesome for backpacking in really rocky areas but IMO they would get annoying on light hikes. They are good boots but not the best at this price range.

newly purchased Vasque Boreas GTX

By:

Just bought a pair of size 11's and wore them on a 6 hour hike. I found the lack of heel cushioning a pain but otherwise love them. Bought a new gel insert and they feel great now.

I have a very narrow foot (and an especially narrow heel), but

I have a very narrow foot (and an especially narrow heel), but about 5-10 years ago I found a pair of Vasque, size 9.5 hiking boots, all leather and waterproof, that fit me very well. They are mid-height and fairly light. But the stitching is showing signs of old age and things are starting to crack. Do the latest Vasque models have similar lasts to their boots of 5-10 years ago, or are they wider now? Does Vasque offer a narrow width as well as medium width? Are they still made in Italy? What's likely to be the most comparable boot in the Vasque line to what I have currently? Thanks!

Same here. The Vasque's have changed & are not the same as what they used to be. Try the Italian made Asolo's. They have a narrower last & a much more comfortable feel. I have a B/C width & they have less exposed stitching, Vibram sole, & full grain leather upper.
