Voile Insane Ski - 2007

You're crazy if you don't want to ski on the updated Insane Ski from Voile. With a stout flex, Voile made these fat puppies to straight line couloirs, float effortlessly over deep snow, and make precision turns through the trees. A lightweight aspen core and carbon fiber construction give you a beefy backcountry powder weapon that won't hold you back. Mount your telemark binding on Voile's proprietary internal mounting zone and enjoy an epic day in the backcountry.

Bottom Line: Go nuts on the skin track, in the pow, and through the trees with the Voile Insane Ski.

what a great ski

By:

In the beginning I thought the ski was strange. It had short swing-radius and seemed a bit short. But after a few trips in the Norwegian mountains, I can say loud: this is a great ski! It is very light too! I have Dynafit-bindings on them. Perfect! Weight is 2 kg pr ski!

At hard snow-conditions the skiis are a bit too flexible? they can start flaping... but in powder they are perfect.

And what a price! Here in Norway the ski cost over the double, that includes transport and taxes.

When the snow comes on deep youll want these in your back pocket. They are big no doubt but handle all but the gnarliest hardpack. Once the sweetspot is found these sticks will float responsively through the pow and the days of crud afterward. The verdicts are cool but these are cooler. So when the DBR hits 10 get INSANE

My New Favorite Tele Ski's

By:
February 11, 2008

I bought the Insane's for BC touring because they're light, and of course, for powder days. They do both very well, but I was pleasantly surprised that they carve short-radius turns remarkably well on groomer runs. I'm tele'ing on them using BD O1's (FreeFlex cartridges), but I bet the Voile SwitchBack bindings would work well, too, and even save a little weight. I have many pairs of ski's, both tele and AT, and these are my favorite pair. They do many things well.

They work on groomers too.

I took my AT set up to the resort today for more DH testing. The Insane carve remarkably well. The short radius hooks up very nicely. Much better than I expected. A very fun ski to ride. Just keep the pressure on the front half of the ski.
