Using the V.I.O. POV 1.5 Camera is a hell of a lot easier and safer than duct taping your $5G camcorder to your head. So just suppress your DIY nature and step it up with this high quality point-of-view camera. The dustproof, water-resistant, and shock-resistant POV 1.5 delivers 720 x 480 resolution at 30fps, so you get crisp and clear shots when you’re bombing backcountry lines or sending technical single track. V.I.O. outfitted this POV camera with improved mounting solutions, a 4GB SDHC card, a wireless remote, and software for managing your vids.
Wide angle 110-degree lens to catch everything
LCD display allows you to review your vids right away
Ergonomic user interface for single-hand operation and hands-free capture
Modular mounting system for stability and range of mounting options
Shock-resistant, water-resistant, dustproof design for extreme conditions
Compatible with Windows XP or Vista / Mac OSX 10.4.7 or higher
Includes: LVDS cable, wireless remote, 4GB SDHC card, USB cable, analog A/V cable, 4AA batteries, carry case, double hook-and-loop mount, star mount, software
Bottom Line: Put the duct tape away and get with the program.
This cam is badass, period. Super lightweight and durable, the 1.5 captures all the action. With a 720x480 resolution it beats every other standard definition pov cam. I love how i can hop on the gondy and tag the keeper shots from that run, and delete the rest.
When it comes to flying off big cliffs, the 1.5 also rips. I'm able to attach it to basically any angle i want, giving the audience an idea of what its like to fly at over 100mph past rock walls.
Take my word, buy this camera. All the major production companies are using VIO1.5, its simply the best.
The differences between the POV.1 and the POV 1.5: The POV 1.5 is an upgraded version of the POV.1. All accessories, cameras heads, mounts, and SD cards that work on the POV.1 will work on the POV 1.5 and vice versa. Below are three major changes: - The POV 1.5 has the v1.3 firmware already installed (the 8GB SDHC firmware) - The POV 1.5 comes with the orange "tethered" camera head. The permanently attached AV cable reduces cable/pin damage cause by improper head connections. This camera head works with the POV.1 as well as the POV 1.5, and has the same field of view and resolution as that of the POV.1 Wide Angle camera head. - Different mounts come with the POV 1.5: Star Mount and the Double Hook and Loop Mount. Please note that mounts can be purchased separately of a POV.1 or POV 1.5. The only exceptions are the mounts in the POV Mount Kit.
This is an ok little camera but where's the HD? I mean, cmon! In addition to that the software is not compatible with my computer. I was recommended a download on line and that one sucks as well. I do like all the options for attachment that come with it. The remote leaves a lot to be desired, they can't even supply enough velcro to fit over a ski jacket. The processor is huge and is attached to the lens by an incredibly stiff cable. Don't buy those packages from B&H Camera that include the cheap Mountainsmith fanny pack, it barely holds the processor. Seek other options. I have the attachment that goes with goggles. It took a bit of tweaking but it's working ok. I would probably wait for a while to see if VIO is going to turn out an HD camera if you want to spend this much money.
Took it to Las Lenas Argentina skiing in August. Performed great but change or charge batteries daily. Remote start/stop/tag difficult to work with gloves on. The camera body is large and doesn't fit easily into my ski jacket's interior media pocket (I didn't like putting it in my back pack with the camera lens attached to my goggle strap; taking the pack off for the lift chair without yanking your own chain is tricky). Everyone who saw the movies on my laptop at the end of the day swore that they were going to buy one for their next trip.
