Tubbs Frontier Snowshoe - Men's

So you’re not trying to win a race across the Himalayas—not this weekend, anyway. If you just want to go for a walk in the snowy woods, strap into the Tubbs Men’s Frontier Snowshoe. The Frontier’s lightweight aluminum frame is virtually indestructible, so you can saunter down the trail with the confidence that you can do anything but throw them under the chained wheels of a snowplow. (Don’t do that.) The snowshoe’s highly efficient toe-pivot system sheds snow with each step, reducing resistance and fatigue, while carbon steel crampons bite into the snowpack to give you superb traction. A user-friendly Quick Step binding system wraps around your boot and holds it securely.

Bottom Line: Don’t let a little snow keep you from hiking all year round.

How do I know if my rather wide winter boots will be able to

How do I know if my rather wide winter boots will be able to fit into the bindings on these snowshoes? Or any snowshoes? Thanks in advance.

Most snowshoe bindings work with any kind of boot, you could always try ordering a pair from backcounntry.com check for fit and if the boot fits then enjoy if not slap on the return label and exchange for another pair.

Would you recommend this for a beginner (athletic male 60years old) or is there something else you would suggest. How does this compare to me snowshoes which are Tubbs Adventure?

That is a great shoe, but I would look at the MSR Denali. Much better traction. It is very durable. About the same price, the binding uses a rubberized strap that will not absorb moisture. One of the problems with the tubbs and atlas bindings is the straps can get all iced up and the straps loosen up. All of these shoes are made in Seattle. Where tubbs are made in China. I admit I am bias toward MSR but I have been using there shoes for over 10 years.
