Load up your rig, and toss your bikes on the back at the last minute. Thule's Speedway Bike Rack quickly attaches with nylon straps to the trunk of most cars. Available in two and three bike versions, the Speedway is a super-stable and cost-effective way to cart your bikes around. Roof racks are expensive, and if you're not using them all the time, they're more trouble than they're worth. The Speedway folds down with the snap of a few buttons and stows in your garage or trunk. Thule's no-sway cage prevents the bikes from scratching each other, while padding protects your car from damage. Plus, it's easy to fit on friends' cars when you can get someone else to drive.
Bottom Line: Easy set up and take down, no wasted time.
This is a great rack. I used it moderately but decided that a hitch rack was what I really wanted. The rack would be 5 star if there weren't better options than a trunk-mounted rack out there. The overall quality of the rack is great, though and it is definitely a great choice if someone wants a trunk rack.
Does anyone know if this will fit on a 2008 Subaru Impreza Hatchback? It seems like it would fit but I was wondering if anyone knew for sure (ie have installed it on one).
Thank you, I had checked Thule's website and the configurator suggests this, but the fit guide only lists impreza wagon up to 99, which is why i asked if anyone knew definitely. reading more backcountry has an excellent return policy so I guess I will just try it out and see...
It's my first bike rack, so I have no comparison for ya but it worked. Pretty easy to set up and take down. Mounting was good for my Specialized hard tail. A bit tricker for my Gary Fisher F4 full suspension, but it works. I like the extra security of the sure fit feature for interstate travel. If you don't need/want to invest in a roof rack this works!
Most Thule hatch racks strap on to the frames of the door. So if you got a little room at the top of the door, and you can see weatherstripping, You could prob fit a hook strap in there. Your spoiler, if you can get your hand under it, you might be able to fit it. This might flex your spoiler a bit though.
Great bike rack. Took us a while to figure out how to put the 2 bikes on so they fit most efficiently (one men's one women's style). No complaints with the product, only thing is, the box it came in had a small hole so we lost one of the lug-nuts...which is an important piece. I'd recommend the product to anyone w/ a hatchback vehicle, though. Happy biking : )
I've used this bike rack around town and on the interstate. It's performed fantastically on several trans-state trips, and hasn't deteriorated at all in the 8 months that I've had it. There's plenty of room for 2 bikes, and the rubber straps keep the bike on nice and safe. It's not as easy to take on and off, so I just keep mine on all the time. It stays much more sturdily than other bike racks that are easier to put on, though, so it's a trade-off. Definitely worth it for me. I recommend it.
http://www.backcountry.com/store/car_rack/thule/begin.htmlThat's a rack configurator. You tell it what kind of car you have and it'll put all the parts you need together.
This should work on your car. I haven't found a car that it won't fit on. The Thule website won't tell you if it will fit because they want you to get a hitch rack or a roof rack, but backcountry.com's return process is quick and easy. It's a great rack, though, I don't think you'll have a problem.
Come on now... It looks like the photo above is a hatchback. At first glance I thought it was a Subaru (I own one myself and will probably buy this product) but I clicked the image and found that it's really an Audi A4.
