Carry up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards with the Thule Snowcat. The Snowcat attaches to the factory slide rails on the roof of your vehicle in a snap so you can load up your car in the morning and make to the hill for first tracks. Since the Snowcat attaches directly to your factory roof rack, you do not need to have Thule load bars for this ski rack. Complete with Thule locks you don't have to worry about people stealing your skis while you're trying to enjoy breakfast at Denny's.
Bottom Line: Thule's Snowcat converts your factory rack to a ski rack so you don't have to invest in the entire Thule system.
Hello Sir! I have a Nissan Pathfinder 2009 SUV with no crossbars, this thule 5401 product will fit on my car or not? Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks Sisco.
As long as you have the roof rails running down the side of your Pathfinder, the rack will fit, but you will need to add crossbars first using the following products: 450 Crossroad | LB50 Load Bars
Please use the Thule rack configuration utility for more details.
This rack installs in minutes. It is really a matter of 4 bolts that grip your side rails(ones that run length wise). Fits my board no problem, and I don't even hear any wind noise. My boards are 158wide and 162 for pow days. The rack it self just sneaks in those big dogs. Skis are no problem, even the wide pow seth pistols. This rack slides to fit the width of your car also so your not locked in at one size. This is a must have.
I have a Jeep Liberty with factory roof mounts. This ski rack was very easy to install. Took no more than 20 minutes. I would recommend this set up to anyone that is not looking for other types of carriers on the roof. This rack is for ski/snowboards only. Cannot attach bike, kayak, etc.
This rack is great. I started off using this on a Land Rover Discovery II and now rock it on my new Grand Cherokee. Fits like a glove on the factory side rails on both and there ia a bit off difference in their widths. Have some occasional stickiness with locks but not a big deal, and been able to stuff it full of skis & boards no problem.
Honda doesn't make a piolet. Maybe a pilot. Use the rack configurator at the top of the page to find out. To answer your question that Angus couldn't, yes we all have big fingers SOMETIMES...and this will fit the pilot with a factory rack from Honda
I got this rack for my Jeep Liberty. Since it easily attaches to the car side rails, there is no need to buy additional supports. Easy to install and it gets the skis out of the car making an overall more comfortable ride for everyone up to the slopes.
I just got this rack.. On my trip I was fortunate enough to end up with these results. Two of our boards had bindings that folded down far enough not to contact the roof, the other two would not. I have a WRX. Otherwise I'd cut some foam pieces out and the pressure from the boards would hold them against the car. Not a big enough problem to not get the rack in my opinion.
Easy to install on 2009 Murano without the need for factory crossbars. If you have a question call THULE directly. REI said that the snowcat wouldn't fit on a Murano without $250 worth of extras. Took about 30 minutes to install even though the directions are pictures only.
This things is pretty cool. Installed it on my Subaru WRX Wagon directly onto the factory rack. Each side holds 2 pairs of modern mid-fat skis or 2 snowboards, so I am pretty much set for a 4-person trip in the Subaru Wagon and this rack makes it pretty comfortable with all the gear stored above. Have not had any problems so far and have been using it all year. I would've given it 5-stars, but I still have to lift the skis up there myself ;) But seriously....this is the best ski rack I've ever owned!
Thule's fitment guide is hard to get answers on. You'll probably have to e-mail them for a good answer. Use this address to ask, and they will answer by e-mail.http://thule.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/thule.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php?p_sid=qvUS2Hjj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=&p_li=
Great fit. Looks better than most racks as well! Great shape and really doesn't seem to cause "drag" on my car.
A little time consuming to install because the allen screws cannot be turned very far with each motion, and they are under some pressure. However once installed, the rack is very secure and very effective.
One other side note. If your bindings do not fold down far enough, the boards you turn upside down will contact your car :( no adjustment to raise the rack so to speak. (perhaps cut some small pads out of foam?) probably happens with all racks though.
I checked there before, but the site is not very helpful. I will call them. Thanks.---Thule's fitment guide is hard to get answers on. You'll probably have to e-mail them for a good answer. Just installed The Snowcat on my 2006 Jeep Liberty. It fits perfect and there is lots of room between the bindings and the roof. Also a good secure fit. The directions of all pictures work well.
Absolutely no regrets in purchasing this rack. Easy to install, great price. Installs in less than 30 minutes, and best of all you don't need to purchase a $300 "base system" just to have carrier attachments such as the Snowcat. Although I use it carry my surf fishing rods, it's worth every penny in it's capacity. My only gripe would have to be the directions. Not the most descriptive, but still easy to figure out.
