Thule Parkway Hitch Bike Carrier - 2 Bike

When you need to get two bikes to the trailhead, secure them in the Thule Parkway Hitch Carrier and hit the road. This two-bike carrier easily attaches to your rear hitch to make transporting your bikes simple and worry-free. This bike rack features Thule's classic cradles, which secure and protect your bikes' frames. Thanks to the dual arm design, there is no need for top-tube adapters on certain bikes—this carrier holds 'em all. Thule included tie-down straps but encourages you to upgrade with the Zip Stick [part 950] for added bike stability and anti-sway. The Parkway Hitch Bike Carrier can accommodate up to 70lb (31kg).

Bottom Line: The Parkway 2-Bike Hitch Rack gives you bomber Thule quality at an easy-to-stomach price.

it works

So far works for me 2 weeks. I had no problem w/using it. Few extra rubber bands will help to prevent rattling and sliding along bars. I would recommend to get a long secure cable and a separate weather resistant lock w/dial code for it. IMHO auxilary pin-lock that thule suggests will be trashed by road dirt and you won;'t be able to stick the key in.

Write your question here...I have a hummer h2 with hitch extender does the Thule parkway bike carrier work with the extender ? Some bike racks are not recommended with a hitch extender

Do you have the hitch extender only so that the bike rack will be far enough away from the spare tire? If that's the case, it should be just fine. Racks aren't 'recommended' to be used with extenders because they increase the torque placed on the hitch and because with the additional junction they aren't as stable.

My wife uses an extender on her Escape to convert her 1 1/2" receiver to a 2" for our Thule T2. It works fine, but isn't quite as stable as when the rack is directly into a 2" receiver.

Your best bet is to enter your information in the Car Rack Configurator at the top of the page and that should tell you if it will work or not.

Thule 2 bike, hitch mount bike rack

By:
June 12, 2008

I have only used it once so far but like most Thule products, it is made of quality materials and built solidly. I thought it was very easy to assemble and install. It holds 2 mountain bikes nicely away from the back of my Denali and swings away easily for access to the back of the SUV without removing the rack or bikes (although Thule recommends that you remove the bikes before lowering the rack). The rubber tabs held the bikes securely and the tie strap kept the bike wheels straight on the rack. All in all, a good value for a high quality product.

You can use it on a pickup, you will have to fold it down (but not remove it) to get into the back, and there are bed-mounted racks that would better suit you.

Good for the price

It is a nice rack and does the job of holding two bikes like it says. I have been having problems with the clips at the top sliding back in forth while driving with the bikes on it (I fixed it buy using rubber bands as gaskets to stop the movement). If you have a small bike, like my wife has, it will be a tight fit on the rack. I find that the zip stick is very useful in keeping the bikes from swaying around. Bottom line is it works good for the price but there are better ones out there.

I have a ladies mountain bike...do I need the bar in order to mount it? We are traveling on fairly smooth roads from Maine to Florida...and how easy is it to swing away from my vehicle in order to get to the hatch?

Pros - Good price, excellent functionality, easy to assemble, bikes ride well, excellent overall design

Con - Discovered that the Thule Zip Stick 2 that is recommended was an unnecessary purchase for me

You cannot lock the bikes, you would need to buy a lock, but you can secure them with the straps provided.

I have a spare tire mounted above my hitch on both vehicles I would use this rack on. Question is there enough clearance for the rack or will I have to buy an extender?

Some friends of mine have a Toyota RAV4 and their rack works just fine. Check out the image to see if the style is similar to your vehicles.http://www.channel4.com/4car/media/T/toyota/rav4/03-large/06-rav4-r3q-a.jpgAre you dead set on hitch rack in this style? Bikes swing back and forth and collide with one another, and if you have any dual suspension bikes you're just asking for mounting troubles.Personally I prefer fork mount roof racks, but I'm a huge fan of Yakima's tray racks. They're quite a bit more expensive, but I like to think that my bike deserves the best after I ride it so hard.http://www.backcountry.com/store/YAK0233/Yakima-HoldUp-Bike-Rack-%96-2-Inch.htmlhttp://www.backcountry.com/store/THU0128/Thule-Transport-T2.html (Thule version, not as good in my opinion)
