The Thule Fit Kit includes rubber pads and clips that attached Thule's Aero Feet to your vehicle. They're manufactured to fit specific cars and the list numbers in the hundreds. So instead of putting a list here you'd be reading ‘til next Wednesday, just call our friendly gearheads who will be happy to get you what you need.
Bottom Line: Custom designed for a solid fit to your car.
The 2142 fit kit is perfect for the Prius and is coated with some weird plastic paint so that it does not scratch your car. The installation takes a bit of time to get everything figured out but once you are there, it is great and fits perfectly. As mentioned by other reviews, the noise starts at about 25-30mph especially when it is windy out there. And it peaks at about 60mph and does not really get louder. I read online you can use bungee cord wrapped around the bars a couple of time to get rid of the noise instead of investing into a fairing which is not cheap. I will give it a shot soon.
I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado with a fiberglass topper . I'm looking for the best option for racking to carry my canoe to the boundry waters and yet not spend a lot of money.
Be very careful of Thule Fit Kits. At least one of them does not fit. I bought the 2171 fit kit for my 2006 Honda Civic. It does NOT fit! Thule will not stand behind their products and let me return the kit. I have another Honda and the kit for that one fits great. So, try and find a review of the specific kit you want to buy before you buy it. Do NOT buy the 2171 kit expecting it to fit a 2006 Honda Civic. IT DOES NOT FIT.
Me and my good friend are hitting the road in two weeks for a year long camping trip through every major national park in the northern U.S. and Alaska. I ordered my first safari rack and Thule load bars to attach it. I had no idea that I needed a fit kit. So one week before I left my hometown to meet up with my buddy I purchased a fit kit off your site at a very reasonable price and had it within a couple days. I was also very impressed with your site, since it's easy for computer morons such as myself to navigate through.
The assembly was a little confusing, but it was great that it was tool free. I strongly recommend getting a fairing if you get a rack, the noise starts at about 25 mph and only gets louder. Once i got a fairing i totally forgot i even had a rack. The mileage has decreased a bit, but that's expected and just a simple trade-off.
I hope to purchase adaptors ( "Fit Kit") for a Thule roof rack that would work on a 2009 Subaru Impreza wagon (hatchback). I have the cross bars and feet (and adaptors for a 1998 Subaru Legacy, which I no longer have). There is a long list of adaptors (Fit Kits) with different numbers, specific for each car, but no indication which kit might be appropriate for my car. If you tell me the correct product, I'll buy it. Thanks John Fitch
I have a really old set of Thule ski racks that fit for a 1990 car. I recently purchased a new car and was hoping to fit the rack to it. Thule is genius for making sure to keep their parts compatible with older models. all i had to do was purchase the fit kit for my new car and it was cake from there! I saved about $300 on all the parts I already owned. After 19 years the stuff still works!
I'm looking for Thule adaptors to attach Thule crossbars (which I have) to a new (2009) Subaru impreza wagon. I have the feet that came with a set that fit a 1998 Legacy wagon. Thanks
You most likely need the load bars, feet, and a fit kit. That is just to start. The Thule site at the top of the page will help. The whole kit priced about $350. That didn't include your canoe carrier either. 3024 is the fit kit # 460R Aero is your mount. RB47 load bars. And it looks like Thule doesn't have a canoe carrier for you, maybe you could sneak it into a kayak carrier though
Fast, fast shipping and excellent communication throughout the whole process. Price for the fit kit as extremely reasonable. I highly recommend Backcountry!
We've loaded up the kayaks and the bikes and now we're going to try putting both up there at the same time :). The Thule equipment is getting the job done and we were happy with the price and the fast delivery.
Took a little bit to understand how it all went together. directions could be a bit clearer. but when done it was a very good fit and held up well on my first trip.
If your looking at a Thule fit kit you know what it is. This site has the best price (I checked around). More importantly they have the best customer service I've come across. I used the online rep and he checked my order and reduced my shipping, added items I needed and helped me out greatly. Fastest shipping online is a great bonus.
Finding the right fit kit for your car is so important. Once, you do find the right kit, the fit is seamless. I have had fit kits for several cars and they have all worked great. Once attached, the bars are so stable that they cannot be moved. I trust Thule hauling all my favorite gear!
i have a 2006 dodge grand caravan and I need a rack for my canoe and kayaks but I don't have all that much money, do you think I could attach the Thule Fit Kits - set of 4 yacks to the rack that came with the van?
