Therm-a-Rest Trekker Lounge Chair

Therm-A-Rest's most luxurious chair set-up, the Trekker Lounge will turn your sleeping pad into a comfy seat in no time. It's made with a soft nylon Taslan top and durable nylon oxford bottom that fully encases the mattress. The removable back-support stays eliminate the need to remove the mattress for sleeping or packing. This chair sleeve fits full-length 20in or 25in mattresses in Therm-A-Rest's Trek & Travel and Camp & Comfort Series.

Bottom Line: Sit more comfortably.

Would a Trekker Lounge 25 work with a 20" pad?
I have a 20" wide Therm-a-rest pad that is getting old. I'd like to get a Trekker Lounge 25 in case I get a wider pad one day but I'm worried about the 20" pad working in the Trekker 25 because of the way it folds and straps into a chair. Anyone have any experience with this?

Well Worth It

I don't mean to sound redundant of previous reviews but this chair makes camping, backpacking, or anything where you need a rest so much more comfortable that I feel it is worth reiterating. The Trekker is lightweight, protects your pad, and gives your weary back the rest it deserves. If you can master removing and replacing the stays (which at first can seem like quite the chore) then you can convert it quickly and kick back while your friends sit on rocks and lean against trees. If your worried about spending the $$$ on something that seems less than necessary I would strongly recommend picking this item up. You won't be sorry.

Is there a trick for taking out the stays? I spent 5 minutes just getting the first one out then gave up on the rest.

Must Have

This chair is the way to go. I would have a hard time camping comfortably without it. I'm by no means an ultra-light minimalist, and consider this chair a must pack. I have the 25" version for my prolite 4 large and it is great. I used to fold my mattress in half and stuff it in a stuff sack, then put it in my pack. Now I just remove the back stays and roll it up and strap it to the top of my pack under the lid. Super comfy and way supportive. I'm 6'2" and 250 and it supports me no problem.

Does this chair have straps to compress and attach it to a pack? Or do you need a compression sack?

The Trekker Lounge does have two straps at the head of the sleeve to secure the rolled up pad which could also be used to attach it to your pack. However these straps only work if you remove the stays and roll it from the bottom to the top. Some people have trouble removing the stays or don't remove the stays for fear of loosing them (which is my problem) and therefore must fold and roll it so that the stays are parallel. In that case a compression sack would be needed. Hope this helped.

It doesn't come with a pad, just the sleeve. It rolls up to quite thin, but still the length of the stays.

multi-functional

It can be used at home also. When you or your friends wants to sit on the floor. It provides some back support. Because it doesn't need to be taken off, it provides some protection to the sleeping pad, too.

Can this sleeve chair kit be used with any thickness of Therma-rest?

Yes, but anything thicker than about 1.5 inches is going to be really hard to get in there and inflate.

best as a sleep mat

By:
December 6, 2007

expected my trekker lounge chair to act like a crazy creek chair which is more rigid and designed ONLY as a chair.
trekker chair isn't rigid enough as a chair. i'll test it later as a sleep mat - i think that'll be the best use.

I've got a prolite 4 short. Anybody know if this will work with a short pad? Thanks in advance.

The short pad is probably not gonna work out with this one, the sleeve is designed for full-length pads.
