Suit up for cold days and freezing nights in The North Face Men's Verdi Down Jacket. With warm 600-fill down and a water-resistant shell, this jacket is ready for winter. Underarm zips help you regulate your temperature on the ski slopes, mesh gussets make it easy to move, and the down hood keeps your head cozy. The Verdi Down Jacket's powder skirt blocks snow on the hill and tucks out of the way for trips downtown. This North Face puffy's hidden media pocket lets you rock out to your favorite playlist while you carve fresh tracks, and a Recco avalanche reflector may aid ski patrol in the event of an avalanche.
Bottom Line: Cold days on the hill and in town call for The North Face Verdi Down Jacket.
I got this coat for my husband two weeks ago, and here's his review:
I just love this coat and give it 5 stars for the following reasons: -I use it to bike to work daily in Chicago weather whenever temperatures are below 35degrees and I've already used it in 10degree. It is fantastic! I no longer need to layer and have a dress/undress ritual - I just wear a nice shirt (what I wear at work) and this coat and I' nice and warm, yet not overly (so I don't start sweating - granted my bike ride is only 2 miles). I will even bring it for skiing - typically I layer there with a gore-tex NorthFace shell, but on cold days (< 10 degrees), I'll use this jacket to ski in. -The yellow works really well for bicycling safety, yet it is a mustard yellow and my fashion-conscious wife tells me the jacket looks even great. That's quite a compliment. -I like the soft collar, the iPhone compartment, and the sturdiness of the zippers; the hood is great. -Finally, the price is just great! I had been looking at similar North Face jackets in the store that cost $400 to $500. -Bottom line: this is a fantastic jacket that I will have for at least 10 years.
If your body tends to run warm you should be fine. I don't so if that's the case I'd probably shoot for something in the summit series with 800-850 fill down. Or if you have some extra room in this jacket and can layer you'll be fine as well.
Bottom line, I had to send the jacket back. I really wanted to like the thing, even so far as to return the large I had first ordered and exchange it for a medium. But after wearing it around the house and testing the coat for fit and movement I found the garment disapointing in one crucial aspect. The hood. The hood is not helmut compatable nor is it head compatable if you wear a hat. Also the neck is so tight that when the zipper is closed it smashes my face and the velcro closers don,t work. The thing is warm though and might be good for walking the dog on a cold winter day but for sitting on sub-zero chairlift in the middle of Feb. with the wind howling in my ears I want something with a hood that will shut out the weather and let me hide.
It won't hold up to a downpour. If you get caught out in a light rain/sprinkle you'll be ok, but heavy rain will soak it. I'd recommend using CampDry waterproofing on it if you do purchase it to help with repelling water. You'd need to use it after every wash if you'd be using it a lot in wet conditions... my suggestion. It works well in medium snow conditions. The nylon shell will get wet but remain fairly dry. Try to avoid extended periods of heavy snowfall or you will get cold & wet.
This jacket rocks. I bought it for my bf and he loves it. It's super warm, comfortable, and has a lot of little storage pockets. It looks fabulous too :)
been a long-time fan of The North Face products. have even given thier products as as Christmans gifts to my family members in the Chicago region- needles to say, thay all loved them as well. True, he prices are up there, but everyting is well wpth the prices- especialy when on sale. This jacket I bought for myself, as my McMurdo PArka was a tad too long for geting in & out of my elevated SUV. This jaceket is Perfect. am also expecting an order for the Apex jacket (fall & cooler weather, sweatshirt & windfall gloves as my last goves of 6 years finally saw its last season & were no longer keeping out the cold breezes). the only gripe (not even really a gripe) in theat the logo & lining of my jacket are all chocolate brown, vs a shown white logo & charcoal-black look in the posted photo. Anyway, its diferent & still looks good- most inportantly it WARM & fits me PERFECTLY (I'M about 5'10' 225lbs- unusally buy XL but this L is PERFECT in the body & sleeve length. I highly recommend theis jacket to ANYONE!
Backcountry.com can't ship The North Face to Australia, New Zealand, Canada or Europe. If you have a buddy in The U.S. you could ship it to them and then have them ship it to you. GOOD LUCK!
I recently moved to the East Coast from sunny California and needed a warm down jacket in preparation for the worst. I scooped this lovely item for $150 and I couldn't be happier! I'm 5'9", slim build, and it's comfortable wearing a longsleeved shirt and fleece underneath the Verdi (small size). However, it's definitely not baggy and can be worn by itself too, which gives this product mega flexibility points.
The helmet is adequate if you've got a beanie on underneath, but it's a snug fit and wouldn't do so well with a helmet. Fortunately I'm not walking around town ready for crap to hit me on the head!
I've had a few people ask me why I bought the yellow colour, but I wanted something bright and it's a refreshing change from the sea of black and brown. Finally, with a fleece underneath I was able to walk downtown in 10-15 F weather for 2 hours without feeling a thing on my chest (my feet were another matter!). If I had to buy another jacket, I'd get this one again, in black (you know, to fit in).
The jacket is 600 fill down which is extremely warm! most people wear just a base layer under this jacket. It would be the perfect jacket for the Adirondacks. It also comes with a hood which is good for keeping your head warm as well
I bought this for my husband. Needless to say he loves it. I have also made other clothing purchases from Backcountry and I love ordering from them. They are fast and accurate. Also, the quality of the clothing is outstanding. I think they are very reasonably priced.
I bought this jacket as a gift for my brother who continues to rave about it constantly every time I see him! He uses it for everything from camping in freezing conditions to walking his dog at 5am in the dead of winter! I would recommend the Verdi to anyone who was looking for a great down jacket!
This jacket is so warm. I never have to wear a layer under it. It keeps me warm and dry in the harshest of Utah conditions. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good looking jacket that is really warm.
