It’s not cool when you’re close to the summit and a gust of chilly wind blows directly up your jacket. The North Face made the Women’s Varius Guide Jacket with an elastic wind skirt that blocks unwelcome wind.
Waterproof breathable HyVent fabric and fully taped seams deal with wetness
Removable hood reduces bulk when the sky is clear
Underarm zipper vents dump excess heat
Hem cinch cord works with wind skirt to retain heat and block the chill
My wife loves the shell I got her for Christmas last year. She's so happy to get rid of the almost-floor length coat she had which did not complement her body very well.
My wife isn't much of an outdoors person, but lives in a TNF denali during the cold months. This shell was a great addition for her, added the wind and water protection she needed to make a blizzard proof winter parka - what I wanted for her. Has all the options she likes - removeable hood, lots of pockets, feminine cut that doesn't make her look boxy, even with the thick, 300 wieght denali zipped in. The powder skirt will be useful for the couple of times she lets me drag her up to the ski hill. Bomber shell.
hello, so I recently bought the women's varius guide jacket that was on sale, on the inside tag it said that it was fall 08 model. I foudn that it is too big for me. Meanwhile I have tried on a july 2009 jacket, the varius guide jacket, and it was built more slim through the waist, which I prefer. however I tried the jacket on at nordstrom and all they had was the july 2009 model that has the black and white pattern on the inside lining, which I dont' like. Is this jacket here that I am referring to, The Varius Guide Jacket black, is this the Fall 2009 model? It would say on the inside tag on the bottom of the coat. If so I would love to order it.
I bought this jacket as a shell. I have several zip-in peices (the Sky Trail TKA 100 fleece, the Nupste down vest, the Denali fleece). This is the perfect shell to make the base layers into a full weatherproof jacket. It has a snow skirt which is wonderful should you participate in winter snow sports. (I'm a downhill skier.) The inside of the black jacket has a pretty floral design which makes it more feminine. The jacket comes with a removable hood. It is also surprisingly comfortable as a jacket alone with nothing zipped in. It provides more warmth than I expected. The durable outer fabric seems to be very high quality while still light weight. I would recommend this jacket to anyone who has multiple base layers they want to change in and out. Its great for skiing because on warm days I zip in my light weight fleece, on cold days I zip in my down vest, and on really warm days I dont zip anything in. Its very versatile.
This jacket has no lining. It's a shell jacket. It has zippers for you to add your own lining and it is compatible with any North Face mid-layer that is zip-in compatible. However the jacket makes for a great weatherproof lightweight jacket in moderate tempuratures.
I have the North Face Denali Fleece and the Nupste (poofy jacket) I love them both!! This jacket is the perfect weather jacket for early fall, it keeps you warm and dry! Very water repellant, and its not bulky.
