The North Face Varius Guide Insulated Jacket - Men's
The North Face Men's Varius Guide Insulated Jacket prepares you for a full day in the winter backcountry. Two-way underarm zips vent excess body heat as you skin up the trail, and waterproof breathable HyVent shell fabric and fully-taped seams keep you dry as you reach the blistery summit and turn it downhill. The North Face added Heatseeker synthetic insulation for low-mercury days and a powder skirt to keep snow from sneaking in. The brushed collar lining comforts your face and an adjustable, removable hood provides extra warmth and weather protection on stormy rides.
Bottom Line: Protect yourself from Varius winter conditions.
Hi Paula - I would recommend checking out The North Face Modulation Jacket - it is very similar to the Insulated Varius Guide - both waterproof, same amount of insulation, similar price- but the Modulation has more ski specific features like a snow skirt and interior pockets for goggles etc. - Similar jackets, but the Modulation was designed as a more ski friendly piece. Hope this helps-
I ordered the Various Insulated jacket, and as usual it arrived in a timely manor. When I received it I was disappointed in the weight of the jacket. How could anything this light keep me warm. I did an online chat with a "Gear Expert" and had my problem resolved. They sent me another one to compare it with. I returned the other one. Say what you will, Backcountry customer service is second to none. Oh, I like the jacket too.
Yes - 120 grams is a pretty substantial insulation package, so it should be warm for Chicago cold temps. It is also waterproof, so it will be a good jacket if it turns wet as well.
I wanted a light weight but warm jacket for Chicago winters and the North Face Varius Insulated Jacket is perfect. I also had a great experience with Backcountry and will definitely purchase from them again.
I received my Varius Insulated jacket yesterday from Backcountry and i'm stoked! First off, this is a great looking jacket i've gotta say the basin blue looks really cool.Second, the Hyvent shell material is great for blocking out the wind and fighting off snow or rain. The high collar is great for keeping my neck and chin warm and the hood is perfect. It provides great protection but doesn't obstruct my vision at all.I'm really pleased with this jacket, it fits great and looks sharp and keeps me warm and dry.
I have an tnf amplitude 3-climate jacket, and, the shell is extremly hard. it is like wearing a space suit. I would like to know if the outer layer of this various jacket is the same or if it is soft. thanks
