The North Face Ultra 105 GTX XCR Shoe - Women's

For long, wet runs over gnarly, unforgiving terrain, The North Face Women’s Ultra 105 GTX XCR Trail Running Shoe gobbles up mile after mile. With a Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membrane and a tough synthetic leather upper, the Ultra 105 is the shoe of choice for endurance trail running in rough conditions. Is this shoe good for hiking as well? I want a shoe that I can use for running on trails as well as hiking. Will be traveling and do not want to take two pairs of shoes.

I constantly hike in my trail-running shoes, and I don't see these shoes as being any different. Good traction, nice support, I agree with what Dave has stated.

Hi Tracy - This shoe and also the Ultra 104 are both going to be good choices for shoes that do both well. Both have good underfoot protection to make viable hiking shoes. I would probably go 104 if you have a wider foot, and stick with the 105 if you are average to a little narrower.
Either one will treat you very well as a dual purpose.

These shoes are also great for hiking. I love anything multifunctional and the 105 epitomizes the word. Go camping, light hiking and run some trails all in the same pair of shoes. I couldn't be happier!
