The North Face Triumph Anorak Jacket - Men's

By using a unique two-panel construction, The North Face removed every unnecessary seam from the Men's Triumph Anorak Jacket giving you a fully waterproof shell with very few weak points. At an incredible 5.4oz, the Anorak Jacket packs away for your long distance treks without weighing you down. Magic Seam construction improves protection and reduces bulk, and the fully adjustable hood with laminated brim keeps you going in wet, stormy weather. The chest pocket, complete with reverse coil zippers, protects your essentials from the elements.

Bottom Line: So light you won’t know you’re wearing it.

is the Triumph Anorak made of the exact same fabric as the North Face Diad? is the Triumph essentially a more stripped down Diad? I have the Diad and like it a lot.

Arenal volcano, Costa Rica

By:

This jacket is super light weight. The only good rain test was a little unfair. I was soaked in a storm in Costa Rica. It was very hot and humid while it was raining, so the jacket's breathability was challenged. I was wet on the outside and inside. But my poly/cotton t-shirt was mostly dry when I took the jacket off so I trust the jacket did a good job. And because it's lightweight, it didn't feel heavy.

They are a very light elastic. It is the lightest waterproof/breathable jacket on the market right now, so even features like adjustable cuffs had to be removed.

Great All-rounder

By:

Bought this jacket in late winter/early spring here in Minnesota. Have used the jacket a few times on local trips up to the north shore of lake superior and on a week long trip to Glacier National park. I love this jacket because it is super lightweight and small packing. I ran into rain on one of the trips up to the lake, and the jacket performed perfectly in wet conditions. I tend to sweat alot and I found the jacket to be pretty breathable as well. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a really nice jacket for backpacking / hiking as long as aren't going to be bushwhacking. This is a lightweight (thin material) jacket, that will last if you take care of it. I bought the XL - I am about 6', 210lbs - athletic build and it fits perfectly.

woundering what size I need I'm normally a medium but if the jacket runs big i like a small. I'm 5'6" and 160lbs and won't be wearing it with many layer underneath.

I am 5'11", 163 lbs., 40" chest, 33" sleeve, 15.5" neck. Sales rep said order large because this jacket is snug fitting. The large was too big but the medium is just right. It's still a trim fit but comfortable. You can layer it with light pieces. You wouldn't layer it with heavy pieces.

North Face Triumph Anorak Jacket

By:
August 20, 2009

I initiated this jacket on the Appalachian Trail for a 30 day hike and it worked superbly. I use it as a summer rain jacket because it is so lightweight and thin in material. It is well worth the price. If you are into hiking and want to cut down on the weight of your gear this is a smart investment. The only downside is that because it is so lightweight and thin the possibilty of it tearing is very real. So this jacket may not be the best for rock climbing on especially sharp rocks. I wear a small men's and I am a 5'5'', 140 lb female. Because this is a summer rain jacket I ususally only have a t-shirt on underneath and it fits fine however the arms are a little long on me. Great investment for the hiker looking to shed some wieght on their gear.

HyVent DT uses the same technology as HyVent, but the HyVent DT is 2.5 layer fabric, while the regular HyVent is 3-layer. So HyVent DT will be more packable, lighter, and breathes better, hence the higher price.

Excellent Rain Jacket

By:
May 24, 2009

This jacket is amazing.. Ultralight, it packs small, very waterproof and breathable. Perfect for hiking, trail running, trekking or any other outdoor activity in late spring and summer weather. I chose the green lantern color, and I'm very happy with it. Very bright and eye catching. I would totally recommend this item to anyone who is looking for decent rain jacket no doubt. I'm going to do some hiking in Venezuela over the summer; after that, I will write a review to evaluate its performance.
