The North Face Women’s Transit Jacket ensures you stay warm while you wait for the light-rail. The North Face insulated this close-cut jacket with 600-fill down and made it water-repellent for protection in frigid temps and light snowfall. A removable hood stops your body heat from pouring out of your head, and a media pocket holds your cell phone or MP3 close at hand.
Bottom Line: Don’t just stand there with your teeth chattering—pull on the Transit Jacket.
How warm is this jacket compared to the 700 fill down of NP Nuptse? I tried the Nuptse on and it was way too bulky for my taste, but the transit was perfect. BUT if the transit is a lot less warm, I want to know before I purchase!
Hi Kayra - The Transit is not going to be as warm as The Nuptse jacket, but that is not to say that the Transit is not warm- it is still going to keep most folks warm in all but the coldest conditions. I got a Transit for my mom that lives in Park City Utah - and she stays really warm in a pretty cold winter climate- Hope this helps
I love this jacket! I just received it yesterday and could not be more happy. I have a long torso so the length of this jacket is perfect for me! Comes with a hood that can be removed and also the sleeves get tighter around your wrist which is a feature that I really like!
I'm thinking of buying the The North Face Transit Down Jacket- Women's, but am a little hesitant as I read here that the fit is not flattering. Does it look too puffy and would this color attract dirt and stains? I already have a Black Redpoint jacket which is really warm but does not have too attractive a fit! Can anyone help me make a decision?
I have a medium and am 5'6" and 135lbs. I think this is as flattering as it can be for a down jacket meaning that it is not very puffy at all and is pretty thin and also does have an hourglass shape or a slight tapering at the waist. I would not go with white but any of the other colors would be good and I think they wash very well with spray n wash and dry with some tennis balls on low. My last years north face aconcaqua has the same fabric in pink and came out like new and the washing even seemed to take away slight wearing or fuzz in a couple of spots in the material.
I wouldn't say that this jacket has the most flattering lines in the TNF line. Here are a few other options that you might want to look at: Thunder Jacket, Tempest Down, Amtoinette, Aviatrix, Destiny Down. I think all of these have very nice cuts if you want something down that is more flattering.
I am 5'6" with an average or longer torso 135lbs. Size medium runs a little bigger than my last years medium north face aconcaqua. Wanted something a little longer to cover my butt and this comes about 2" past bottom of my butt or 32.5" lenght from top of back collar. could easily wear with a couple layers underneath but small might have been to snug. Sure it will be warmer than my shorter one for the cold Chicago winter. It is slightly tapered inward at the waist and is not too puffy. Love the color and think it will wash well like my aconcaqua.
I bought this jacket for my 19 year old daughter to wear walking around the cold Michigan campus. She has tried it out for that and REALLY likes it. She's short, so it covers her to her thigh, without being too long. She's a size 6 generally and first ordered a medium, reading that they run small. I'm a 10-12 and it fit me, so I quickly ordered a small so she'd have the right size for Christmas. The small was perfect. I had asked advice from Backcountry on this and they didn't really have good advice on this. I'd just say this jacket runs true to size.
Try looking at the measurement chart above under "select options" for small & Xsmall to see which would fit best.I am 5'4" and 115 lbs. with a petite upper body, and just got an XS and it fits perfectly but it's definitely not big nor roomy - but I also prefer fitted jackets, which the XS is for me. I am fine with 2 layers under (base layer + sweater) and even a vest.
How can I clean the black stains that are unavoidable to get on the botton of the sleeves???I never tried to clean it with anything because I'm affraid to use the wrong product and loose the jacket.
Hey Diana,The best thing I've found to do is spray a bunch of "spray-n-wash" on the dirty areas, reapply it every 30 minutes for a couple of hours and then wash it as you normally would. If the stains are really bad do the same thing but give them a heavy spray and let it soak overnight. That has gotten about everything out of our jackets and it won't damage the material.Hope that helps.
Tried on a Large North Face Jacket (different type) and it just fit. So I ordered an XL to allow for a sweater underneath. It is a little larger than I expected. The sleeves are too long but overall I like the jacket. It is not very flattering to the figure but hopefully it will keep me warm.
What is the lenghth of this jacket? I ordered the Greenland Jacket and it's too short. I am 5.0 feet tall and it came below my behind. Does this jacket fall at the thigh?
This jacket is 3" longer than the Greenland. The Transit has a center back length of 30", while the Greenland only has a center back length of 27". I will let you decide it that will fall at your thigh or not.
I'm really pleased with this jacket. It kept me nice and warm walking across campus with temps in the low 30's. I got it in Cherry Stain Brown, size small (I'm 5'7'' and 118 lbs), and it fits very well, leaving some room for layering if I choose. I was afraid the arms would be too short, but they're not. The color is beautiful. Also, I was afraid removing the hood would leave the snaps visible, but the collar has a convenient little flap that covers the snaps.
I was concerned when I received this jacket that it wouldn't be warm enough, as it is so thin and lightweight........but I have been out in below freezing temps, and it is great - warm but not heavy & bulky. Fits well, and good length.
I live in Chicago and by far this is the warmest jacket I have ever worn. The style is great and the color is really nice! I recommend this to any one who loves in the Midwest.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this jacket. The lenghth is perfect as it is a little longer than my waist and it is SO warm! It has eough filler but is not overly warm!
Love the length, warmth, color (cherry stained brown) and the fact that it's washable! I have small children so everything must be washable... Still can't get over value here compared to NF itself! And shipping was super fast! Only wish it was a bit more tapered at the waist.
Does this jacket fit true to size? My daughter wears a 6 usually, but some North Face fits small, so should I order the medium so she can put a sweater under it?
This jacket does fit pretty true to size. If she's on the small end of a 6 I'd go with a small but if she's on the verge of a 6/7 then shoot for a medium. If she's going to be layering I'd definitely go with a medium. The hood is a removable hood.Hope that helps.
no, its kinda more like an upper quad length. If you want knee length the metropolis is at the knee... There is another couple jackets by ISIS and Patagonia that are longer also.
I bought this jacket just before Christmas and I really like it. It is very light weight, but very warm (especially today when it was -16 degrees on my way to work). I normally wear smalls in shirts but ordered a medium and it fits pretty well - a little big, but room for big sweatshirts/sweaters. The only thing is that I wish it were a bit longer because it just barely cover my bottom but it said that it would come to about mid-thigh.
I have read reviews about the material tighter around the wrist so wind doesn't blow in. What kind of material is around the wrist of the sleeve. Is it a tight poyester or is it more soft like cotten.
I never thought I could be so passionate about a jacket, but I love this one. It is magically warm without being bulky or heavy. I'm 5'5" and about 125 pounds and it fits perfectly. I got the long version of this coat, in black, earlier in the year as a gift and I don't how I lived without one before. I live outside of Philly and it was a nasty winter.
Is it possible to speak with a person who speak french?I would like to know if this Jacket is for winter, for young girl or women, and how to process to have this item. This item interessing me, and I speak french, and I don't want to buy this jacket if it's not for me.
Just got my jacket today, in Vintage White (small). Looks great and is perfect for cold midwest winters. Runs true to size except for the sleeves. They're pretty long, so I'll have to fold them in. I was surprised by this considering that I tried this jacket on in a nearby store, and the sleeves fit fine.
