The North Face Superlight Women's Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down - 2008
The North Face Women's Superlight Sleeping Bag is a 0-degree down bag fit for all-season mountaineering. Light enough for extended trips and warm enough for use as a spring skiing and mountaineering base camp bag, the Women's Superlight compliments the female form. With women-specific dimensions in the hip, shoulders, and length, the Superlight increases comfort and locks out the cold for a warmer night's sleep. The 'rippled' baffle-construction evenly distributes the Superlight's 600+ fill down for maximum warmth while preventing shifting from side to side- creating cold spots. Additional touches include an external pillow pocket, watch pocket so you can hear your alarm in the morning, a full-length draft tube, and a super soft, breathable silky lining. Includes a nylon/mesh storage bag and a stuff sack.
Bottom Line: Lightweight, 3-season, down comfort and warmth for women-what more do you need?
I LOVE this bag!! We do alot of overnights out and this is the first bag that warms fast and holds ALL night. The body is wide enough to curl up sideways, even bend a single knee with no restriction. I love that is is super light, but that also comes with tear easy, I wish it were a touch tougher but the zipper is guarded and I think it is made to last...you won't regret this one!!
i have never had a bag that i did not give myself at least an extra 20 cushion when packing...until this one. the window in which this bag is comfortable is huge. it packs so small. i am finally saving the solarflare for true arctic cold and using this for winter trips. if i were buying one bag and were a four season camper this would be the one!
Does this sleeping bag have insulation on the bottom? It's not just a sleeve? I ask because I was looking at another sleeping bag and didn't see anywhere in the specs that it did not have insulation on the bottom and almost ordered it, before I read some of the comments and reviews and discovered it just had a sleeve on the bottom, which is not what I'm looking for.
yeah, the insulation surrounds the entire bag.......... this is a super warm bag that could pass as a do-it all bag for all conditions. It's great for sub-freezing temps and can also be unzipped completely as a down comforter when its hot!!
My main purpose of buying this bag was to fit it in my 24L pack. And boy does it compact well. Fits in my size M (went up a size so it was less like a hot dog and more like a hamburger) Sea to Summit dry compression sack. Does exactly what i got it for. It takes it less than a minute to expand to it's full loft. And it's incredibly cozy to boot.
As far as actually being a zero degree. I never think they're warm enough. But when compared to a comparable synthetic it outshines it by at least 10 degrees. I just matching my bag with an insert.
Oh yes and the yellow on the outside doesn't match the shade of yellow on the inside (w/ the blue). Doesn't bother me.. but some might find that odd. Also has a amount of writing on the side (more at least than was shown in the picture).
This bag is awesome. I bought it for backcountry skiing hut trips and winter camping (as I froze in my 20 degree bag last February in Moab) and it has proven worth every dollar. Plus, the girlie side of me likes the butter yellow and baby blue colors, too. It really is light, stuffs down to a tiny size, and the stuff sack has convenient straps for hanging it off your pack. I absolutely recommend this bag.
