The North Face Spectrum 33 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

When you need a lightweight and weatherproof tent for your hard-core backpacking adventures, grab the three-person, three-season North Face Spectrum 33. The fully seam-sealed canopy and fully taped floor work with the Spectrum 33's weatherproof fabrics to keep you dry and warm throughout any summer deluge. Top and ground level vents help circulate air so this tent doesn't get stuffy overnight. Store your gear in the single-wall-construction Spectrum 33 Tent's pull-out vestibule. The North Face keeps setup simple with color-coded poles and a Fusion Pitch, which combines traditional continuous pole sleeves with easy clip construction. Fit the Spectrum 33 into the included compression sack and pack this 4lb 8oz tent into your pack.

Bottom Line: The North Face Spectrum 33 gives you the protection and spaciousness you'd get from a traditional two-walled tent but without the weight.

A small, cramped, wet experience.

It would probably not be a bad tent for one person in a dry environment. This three person tent held two, but we were very cramped. Then during a late night thunderstorm we found that water seeped through the lower seams. This is a lightweight tent with no rainfly, so water also seeped in anywhere something touched the tent material from the inside. Since the interior was rather cramped our bags were naturally touching the walls of the tent, and guess what.... I'd choose something besides the Spectrum 33.I will add that this site's customer service in resolving this has been excellent!

Depends on your climate...

This is a great tent in dryer climates. It doesn't do super well when there is high humidity and or super low temps because of condensation on the inside. This tent takes some getting used to to figure out how to set it up the get the proper ventilation to make it comfy... When you do get this down it is a baller light weight tent...

Great tent

By:

I just returned from a 3 day trip during which I used this tent for the first time. Set up was quick and the tent performed very well. The first night had very little breeze and thus ventilation was a little lacking (I had zipped up the vestibule). As a result, the inside of the tent had become quite wet. The second night I cracked the vestibule slightly and all was dry in the AM. Perfect.

I will acknowledge that this is a small 3-person tent; only slightly larger than my buddy's 2 person REI dome tent. The purpose of this tent's feature-set is simple; to keep the tent light and fast. Considering I was lugging 2.5 pounds less than my buddy, I'd say it works.

Overall good tent

By:

I've had this tent for about 2 years and I'm pretty satisfied. My only gripe is that it's ventilation is not so good. I live in steamboat springs, co which has a pretty dry climate. Camping around this area I find condensation in the morning unless I have the vestibule wide open at night, which isn't the greatest on cool colorado nights. Also it is small for a 3 person, which I don't mind since it's only me and maybe a girlfriend. Otherwise it's a nice tent, easy to set up, great in wind and rain, and pretty light for backpacking trips. Plus The Northface did a pretty good repair job after a few dogs decided to fight over a deer bone right next to my tent, ripping open a huge hole in the side and breaking a pole.
