Pack everything you need for your all-day summit hike in The North Face Solaris 35 Backpack. Hit the trail with extra layers, lunch, and plenty of water in this daypack. The North Face's mesh Verti-cool back panel allows air to circulate between your back and the pack so you stay cool on your uphill trek. Meanwhile, the adjustable waist-belt on this technical pack helps take some weight off your shoulders. If it starts to drizzle, quickly access your rain gear from the Solaris 35 Backpack's lower zip-compartment. Grab your water bottles from the side pockets to stay hydrated throughout your hike. The North Face's durable ripstop nylon material keeps the Solaris 35 Backpack in shape for all your trekking adventures.
Bottom Line: Bring everything you need for your all-day hike in the Rockies or along the Appalachian Trail in The North Face Solaris 35 Backpack.
This is a one size fits all backpack. I have a 19" torso. I got the 35L pack and the waistbelt rode up at my belly button. the info at TNF states for 17-20" torsos, not true. i emailed TNF about this to see if the 40L Solaris had the same frame, and it does. the person said that the straps can be worn tightened up for shorter torsos or mor lax for longer torsos, but if i did that, the straps didn't sit right. i bought this pack for dayhikes, etc. if you have a small torso 16 inches then it would be great. otherwise this is a school backpack and nothing more. looked like a neat pack, but they need to make some different sizes. this is the same thing they did with the Terra packs which are pretty cool packs as well.
This pack does not come with a rain cover. The fabric is 420D ripstop nylon though, and ripstop nylon is actually very water resistant. So, while the pack isn't waterproof, it will hold up just fine in everything except a torrential downpour. In said rainstorm, the inside may get damp or even wet.
I day pack a lot and ski a good bit. I wanted a pack that could carry all of my gear on days, and hold my family's odds and ends during skiing day trips. This pack is the one! I researched about 10 packs, all of which were North Face, and chose the Solaris 35 based on dimensions and overall features. For 1-2 day excurssions, you won't be dissapointed. Also very appropriately priced.
Does this backpack conform with carry on luggage standards for domestic and international flights in Australia? "The safe maximum size is 45", in the form of a 22" x 14" x 9" bag. Some airlines allow up to as much as 55", but most do not." quoted from inside traveller.com . Can the waist straps be secured snugly?
The specs on the bag give the dimensions as being 22" x 13" x 9". I plan on using mine as carry on for a trip to Switzerland this summer. For my torso, the waist straps hit right above the hips and tighten down quite well. There are even straps to cinch the bag itself into the waist belt.
Excellent size pack for an all-day hike or a lightweight overnight adventure. Because the pack only comes in one size, the straps are adjustable for different torso lengths and I like to adjust the weight on the fly anyway. Two external water bottle holders and the internal hydration sleeve provide plenty of water for a long day. Highly recommend, another great product by The North Face.
hi. i had a north face solaris 35 in my cart for $79.16 + free standard shipping last week. I now have the money to buy it, but it comes up as $98. so, my question is, did you raise the price since last week or is there an error? this is NOT a christmas gift.
I'm not sure what some other reviewers are talking about. I am also towards the higher end of this pack's torso rating yet it fits me exactly as it is supposed to, very comfortably at that. The pack is also durable so you should get your money's worth. Perfect for day hikes and plenty of space to store water.
this is one of the most comfortable packs ive worn. i have yet to take it on the trail; ive only used it for school so far. either way, you cant beat the price/size/comfort level. overall a great pack. i recommend it to anyone who needs a large comfortable back pack. also it looks sweet.
I Wore This Pack Around EMS For Only A Moment, And I Knew It Would Be Too Small For My Torso. The Waist Belt Does Not Fit Comfortably On The Hips--It Cinches Down Over My Belly Button. The North Face Advertises This Model As A "One Size Fits All." I Have A Pit-To-Pit Of 20-Inches Which Is The High-End Torso Rating For This Pack (17"-20"). The Solaris 35 Has A Lot Of Great Features That Day Hikers Seek, But It Cannot Fit Us All.
