The North Face Softwool Crew Long Underwear Top - Women's - 2008

Australian merino wool makes The North Face Women's Softwool Crew Long Underwear Top softer, warmer when wet, and less stinky than polyester—so what are you waiting for? Unlike super-itchy old school wool, this top from The North Face provides an extremely plush feel that you’ll really appreciate when you pull it on each morning of a long backpacking trip. The North Face also added thumb holes to keep the sleeves in place if you wear this top skiing or climbing.

Bottom Line: The wool you always wished for has finally arrived.

super comfy wool

This top is really comfortable--I love that it's wool and it's still so soft. I am a standard medium and it is a bit baggy but I like that--I don't like a skin tight top usually, and it feels more like a normal shirt than a "long underwear" looking thing. The best thing about it is that you can wear it multiple days in a row and it never smells and is always warm! ;) Helpful if you can't always do laundry.....

Nice feel and NOT itchy!

This is a great, high-quality baselayer - since I bought it a month or two ago, I've worn it on the slopes everytime, and I've never gotten cold. The thumb holes are especially helpful for pulling on sweaters and ski jackets over it.

The only downside is that, like most outdoor apparel for women, it seems like it's made for petite-to-average-sized females. I'm 5' 11" and weight 135lbs, and the length of this baselayer is too short for me, while the width is a little too baggy. I end up having to wear a long tank top underneath (which kind of defeats the purpose of a baselayer...). If I had ordered a size up, it would've been way too baggy.

Overall, though, this is a toasty, non-itchy, and investment-worthy baselayer that's also good for wearing around town or for apres-ski.
