With the X Radial tubular aluminum frame, injection-molded EVA back panel, and anatomically contoured hipbelt, The North Face Skareb 50 Backpack carries large and heavy loads without feeling like a sack of potatoes. Air flow channels on the back panel and breathable nylon fabric on the hipbelt prevent you from overheating on the trail, while high-strength parachute fabric on the body resists tearing. Will this be okay as a carry on with American's restrictions:

Will this be okay as a carry on with American's restrictions: 45 inches and 40 pounds. More concerned about size as I have more control over the weight with what I pack.

Depends on what airline and what size of plane. I've carried on via a la Cart on Horizon/Alaska Airlines and Delta; I was on their smaller planes. On bigger planes I've been able to shove it in the overhead compartment. I've flown quite a bit with it and never had a problem.

Strictly speaking, no. The packpack is slightly longer than the maximum carry on length allowed by most airlines, but I have taken it as a carry on on a few flights.

So youre out looking for a durable, good looking, and light weight pack for hiking and travel. What are you going to do? Well look no further! This pack is super lightweight, looks totally rad and is made with a really tough parachute fabric. I wore it for a weekend trip and it is an amazing pack. So amazing in fact, that I ended up stealing my girlfriends! The fit is also superb and the X-radial frame allows for great range of movement.
