The North Face ST Down Apogee Snorkel II Down Jacket - Men's

You might wear an Armani suit to work, but when it comes to the slopes, you’re all about the unmistakable style and durability of The North Face Steep Tech collection. We’re talking about the heaviest-duty Steep Tech jacket here—the Men’s St Down Apogee Snorkel II Jacket. Besides waterproof HyVent fabric and super warm 600-fill down insulation, this jacket features a removable hood with removable faux-fur trim. And those teched-out shoulder panels aren’t just for looks—The North Face reinforced the shoulders with nylon Kevlar. The fixed belt, multiple outside and inside pockets, two chest vents, and a powder skirt top off the ski features.

Bottom Line: Welcome to the Steep Tech collection’s workhorse.

Apparently it weighs 67.4 oz. I found that on an eBay listing though, so it may not be entirely accurate. For my fellow Canucks that's roughly 1.91 Kg.

decent jacket with premium material

Well, where do we start with a $600+ jacket?!
it does a good job of balancing useability, durability, keeping warmth in while keeping the elements out. However, don't mistake this with an everyday jacket. This jacket is not an everyday jacket, it is much too heavy and the material is much too heavy duty for everyday use (gets in the way too much). With 600 fill, I was ok staying out in single digit F for around an hour sitting. Still though, don't believe in the jacket able to keep you warm in the most harsh weather claim, as it won't do anything to increase survival rate. You should look for a full body suit for that. As far as cleaning, it stated cold gentle cycle machine wash on tag. Now if they can include a users manual for all the features in this jacket... If there is one thing I would like improved, other than a users manual, it would be a better attachment method for the hood. The zipper sometimes slides opens un-intendedly. As far as money well spent...I have waited for a sale before pulling the trigger and I am keeping it.

You're question gets asnwered when someone stumbles across it and knows the answer. If you ask a vague, subjective question like "how warm is this", then it probably won't get answered. If you ask a more specific question like "Would this be warm enough to wear in 0 degree weather with a t-shirt underneath?" then it's more likely to get answered.

Not your everyday jacket for sure!

Heavy indeed, however, this Jacket is definitely the warmest jacket I have put on Ever! The only thing I didn't like was how easily the faux-fur trim can come off. But if you don't like faux-fur and you don't want to lose the hood this is a great feature. Other than that, best money spent in a long time.

I called North Face to get this same question answered and there response was that they do not give out that info because each person will have their own comfort zones, bla bla bla . . . That being said, I have one and have worn just a T-shirt underneath when it was 0 degrees outside and was still not cold. Like any jacket layering will be based on you activities and duration in extreme coldness. But you can be assured this jacket is as warm as any other -and it is built like a tank.
