The North Face Ruko Jacket - Men's

Temperatures plummeted last night, and you just spent an hour scraping ice from your car. Good thing you have the Heatseeker-insulated Men's Ruko Jacket from The North Face. This bomber jacket keeps you warm whether you're in the snowy city or riding in a B-17 at cruising altitude. Chances are that you'll never actually be in a B-17 and need The North Face Ruko Jacket's extra warmth, but it's nice to know you have it just in case.

Bottom Line: The North Face Ruko Jacket is warm enough for an air raid or a winter day in the city.

Super stylish, surprisingly warm, generous cut for big guys, warm cozy pockets, compliment magnet. Nuf said.

I am the same height and build, and normally would go with a TNF large, but because this is a bomber style jacket, I am thinking XL here.

bad range

By:
February 20, 2008

i got this as something i could wear by itself, or just over a hoodie or something simple like that. its plenty warm, but the arms have almost no range. if you are, say, driving, dont even thing about reaching up to change the radio, this thing will ride up your arms like a madman. and the sleves are kinda tight so it's really just uncomfortable and not flexible at all. i was very disappointed, will probably return for something else.

I'm looking for a lightweight insulated jacket to use backpacking.

I'm looking for a lightweight insulated jacket to use backpacking. I've been looking at lightweight compressible down and synthetic down jackets from Patagonia, Mountain Hardware, Marmot, etc. However, I'd prefer to have better style than the typical "outdoor performance" look.

Do you think this would perform well camping and backpacking?
Does it compress pretty well?
People say the cut is wide. I'm 5'8" 165lbs - medium build. I also have long arms. I'd like it to fit snugly.
Thanks!

Hi Bryan. In theory you can embroider any jacket; it's just a matter of how it will impact the performance. This jacket is not waterproof, so poking holes in it will not affect its performance in the wet. However, you will be adding cold spots by embroidering it. The same principle applies to any sewen through down jacket. Every time you put a hole in the jacket and pinch the insulation, you create a spot with less insulation, hence less heat retention, thus more cold. That being said, if you're just going to use this for bumming around town, then you probably won't care if the insulation is slightly pinched on your trek between the car and work. If you like the jacket, then go for it.

So far, so good.

By:
September 16, 2008

Just got this jacket and so far, it's met my expectations. It's been quite warm on chilly evenings and has enough room to fit over layers for harsher termperatures. For those interested in purchasing the brown, be aware that the jacket is slightly darker than the image suggests. Other than that, solid coat all around.

Nice, but cut wide

By:

This jacket is well worth the price. It is warm and waterproof, but it is cut very wide. Think about sizing down if you do not layer your clothing.

Good Coat

By:
May 1, 2008

Bought this as an everyday coat. Torso is a little wider than I expected, but arm and hip length are spot on. Keeps me warm when it's cool, protects against the wind, and is easy to maintain appropriate temp as needed considering I only wear t-shirts underneath. No problems while driving, looks stylish and build quality is excellent. Shipping time was quicker than expected as well!
