The North Face Rucky Chucky Trail Running Shoe - Men's

*Buyer beware* 1st I wear a men's shoe size 10 and I had to buy these in a 9 a whole shoe size down. I'm not sure what mountains North Face was running when they designed this model but this is no mountain running shoe. But if you're looking for something that's comfortable for a long day trail run these will do well. Happy running :-)

Good support but I do not think it fits a narrow foot!

These shoes are great. They work great on and off the trail and provide excellent support. The technology in these shoes is second to none. Style meets performance.

Thanks to gear guide, took his advice & or'd. my typ. 101/2's. Perfect fit. I also wear N.B. 874's in 101/2 EE. Very comfortable, good ride & rock protection. Smart design, stable - low to ground for good trail feel. Interior is smooth, no issues & no superflous padding, that would drain & dry slower. ( I don't wear socks & run/train for ultras that way). NOT a heavy "clunky" shoe IMO. I built up the arch on the insoles w/cut-out foam for my high arches, & tape them in. (I do this often). I'll be getting another pair sometime down the TRAIL fo sure.

Excellent training shoe. Coming off a stress fracture I really like the cushioning. The mesh upper may be too ventilated for cold days but will come in handy for summertime. I have run in every condition the PA outdoors has in Feb and March and have no complaints. Unlike the Nitrus, whose yellow nubs were flush with the rest of the sole and did wear off easily, the rucky chucky's nubs are depressed from the rest of the sole and sandwiched between two larger black treads. So I would think it very difficult to waer them off. I have used them and will continue to use them on all of my training runs.

I have about 300 miles in the trails on my Rucky Chucky's and 50 miles of it was the North Face Bear Mountain 50 mile race
(one of the toughest terrain races out there) which I completed thanks to these sneaks.They have held up perfectly for me, protective, comfortable, and never one blister.

This shoe is alright. I'm glad they did not leave the exposed spot in the middle of the forefoot like the first Arnuva 50. It's lower to the ground than something like the Montrail Hardrock and its not super heavy, but by no means is it light. It's wide and stable and has a good amount of cushioning. This shoes is at least a half size too big. Overall it's ok, but I would not turn to this as my go to shoe for an ultra distance run.

These shoes have worked out great for wet,rocky, trail runs!
Unfortunately I am kind of a crappy runner still,I have the ice hockey legs going on!

I entered the Bandera 100K trail run in January 08'. After 50K (31 miles), 2 different pair of shoes and 4 different pair of socks, my feet were destroyed. I stopped and vowed to return the next year with better gear! I got my Rucky Chucky shoes this week and tried them out on some very tough, rocky hills. I was very impressed. The shank significantly supported my feet over the rocks. The shoes were a little heavier than others I have tried but worth the extra weight if they can hold up. I ran a little on the road and they felt acceptable there as well. I am now prepared to return to Bandera where Chucky and I will get the miles that we deserve!

Very good flexibility for such a beefy shoe. They have held up very well for me after 2 seasons of use. It is one of the wider fitting TNF platforms, so not the best for my B width feet, but I am impressed with the support and design nonetheless.

Have not had any sole issues. Great cushioning, comfortable, well made, and holding up very well.

I believe these are a very good shoe and a great price. Run a tad big. Comfortable and stylish.

I bought these to train for, and run in the Pikes Peak Marathon.
Positives: Great cushioning, traction, durability is good, and they look sharp.
Negatives: I found them to not have enough arch support for my foot. They are also a wide shoe that does not work with my more narrow foot.

I have about 300 to 400 miles on my 1st pair of Rucky Chucky's. Just purchased 2 more pairs. The shoes have very good traction on rocks, are very tough, and have good support. I take the insole out, that comes in them, and throw them away. Get insoles that feel good for you. This will make the ride soo much better.

I bought these shoes mainly for desert hikes but also as my daily kicks. First off, they definitely do run a 1/2 size too big. These are really comfortable shoes. They hug my foot nicely with no heel-lift at all and they are also reasonable light and very well ventilated. The shoes have great grip and seem to be holding up very well after about 4-5 months of daily use. I have wide, flat feet and these worked out well for me because I have virtually no arch. The material is also very flexible which allows for wider feet. Overall, these shoes are perfect for my usage; mainly fast and light backpacking in the desert. If you are in a wetter climate I would probably recommend a boot or something with Gore-Tex.

I loved the North Face Ultra 100 trail shoes and have been looking for a replacement ever since North Face stopped making the Ultra 100. I have long narrow feet and the ultra 100 dual lacing system worked perfectly for my skinny feet. The Rucky Chucky does not have the same lacing system as the Ultra 100 so I have trouble getting the shoe tight enough because my feet are so narrow. The Rucky Chucky runs fine I have about 50 miles on my pair of shoes and they are as good as anything else i have tried besides the Ultra 100. I have no blisters or hot spots and I did the first 20 miles with the stock foot beds. Once I put in my custom foot beds the shoes felt even better.

I put about 50 miles on this shoe and the dual density rubber "nubbins" started coming off. (The Montrail Nitrous had the same exact problem.) If a shoe is going to claim to be as beefy as this, it should at least stay together with so few miles on it...
