The North Face Roadrunner 33 Tent 3-Person 3 Season - 2008

The North Face concentrated on ease of use when they went to the drawing board and designed the Roadrunner 33 Tent. Whether you're gearing up for your first backpacking trip or you're a seasoned veteran, the Roadrunner 33 Tent provides the weather protection and technical features you need for a great day in the backcountry. Dual vestibules provide plenty of space to store gear out of the rain, and The North Face added dual doors to allow easy entry and exit to this tent's three occupants.

Bottom Line: Your house deserves a weekend alone, so load The North Face Roadrunner 33 Tent into your backpack and hit the trail.

Well I don't have much more to add than what has been said already in the previous comments. I did get to compare it in size to another 3 person tent, an MSR tent I think and the TNF packed smaller and I think was a little lighter. All in all I don't think you'll be disapointed with this tent.

I have been looking at a lot of tent reviews trying to find the right one. My biggest concern is size. I am 6'5", so I need a long tent. Next of importance is weight. It has to be reasonable because it will be in a backpack over weekend hiking trips in Colorado. Will this tent work? It is priced reasonably. Thanks.

This tent should suit you fine. I am sure you know but being 6'5" means that every tent is going to be snug. This one is 7'6", so that should give you a little breating room, plus the walls are fairly steep so that will help keep the wall from brushing gainst you. As far as weight goes, for the price, this is money. Just under 6 lbs for 3 people, split up the tent body, poles and rain fly and you wont even notice the weight. Have fun camping in CO.

I purchased this tent for some three season car camping. I only tried setting it up once. I have to be honest. This tent is a dream. It took no time at all to set up. i am 6'2" and i fit comfortably inside no problem. The weather took a turn for the worse and this tent had no problem keepng the heat in. I experienced no moisture build up on the inside. the compression sack that it came with was amazing. this tent is large, but when stowed is actually smaller than my Northface sleeping bag. I recommend this tent to just about anyone. I is am awesome two person tent. As far as it being a three person tent, well you they are three small people then yeah. But lets be honest. tents usually run small. the double doors were also very comfortable and the height inside was accomodating.

Great Tent!

I have taken the Roadrunner 33 on several trips- and have packed my entire family into it a couple of times (that is 2 adults and 2 kids)... it worked, but I wouldn't recommend doing that again. The point is that we fit in and all slept fine. Set up takes a few minutes. It is very easy, my 10 year old can set this tent up, no problem. I love the lightweight poles, the full coverage the fly provides and how well the fly fits over the tent snugly. There are several points you can tie the fly out tightly, which is fantastic during a rain storm. I've camped in Oklahoma during some huge thunderstorms where may other campers were soaked...while my son and I stayed dry as a bone in this tent. We've also used this in Colorado mountains where the tent got covered in ice and some snow...we were also protected well. The vestibules are great to leave gear in, while not huge, they are sufficient for a pack in each. I have not tried putting 2 packs in one. I'd recommend the footprint and the gear loft as well. With TNF footprint and the fly, you can set up a really lightweight shelter without the actual tent if you want. Gear loft, especially with 3 people gives you a sturdy place to put your headlamps, wallets, knives etc. I'm 6'1" and fit the tent well. After growing up sleeping in crappy tents on Boy Scout trips, the Roadrunner 33 has been a dream.

well designed and light

I've used this tent in 3-season use including a week in Costa Rica and it was comfortable in any situation - with the fly-only option, just the screen tent, and with the rainfly on the tent. I originally bought this because my 2-person was too small for two people and my 55 pound pit bull. I purchased the gear loft originally but returned it - the mesh pockets are more than large enough for personal items. This is actually a superb tent for two people if you split the weight between the two packs. It is a bit long in the stuff sack, so it is hard to fit inside a smaller pack.
