The North Face Resolve Jacket uses a lightweight mesh lining to keep it from feeling clammy, even in an absolute downpour. The waterproof breathable HyVent DT shell easily withstands the most horrendous rain you encounter on the trail, and it lets water vapor escape so you don't end up drowning in your own sweat. The North Face used a fully adjustable hood to round out the Resolve Rain Jacket's features and ensure you stay bone-dry even in nasty weather.
Bottom Line: Stop worrying about the rain. You have The North Face Resolve Jacket to keep you dry if the weather turns bad.
This jacket really doesn't breathe enough to comfortably run in. There are other jackets out there that are more suited for fall running. I used mine once last year for running 5 miles in light rain and it was around 50 degrees. I sweat quite a bit and this jacket simply does not breathe enough.
I'd only wear the resolve if you are running in the rain. It does breath but it is so much more comfy and practical to use some like the The North Face Windstopper Active Jacket for crisp fall cardio missions!
The jacket is quite comfortable and has a very good design so it looks good when you wear it. Make sure you measure yourself correctly before ordering because it tends to ride up. It keeps out water well, but the collar is really warm. I also like that it has tightners at the waist. I can't wait to use it again.
Well, it's better than a poncho and would usually keep the chill off of you, but it isn't really lined or insulated for warmth. It's essentially a plain shell with a lot of nice small features (nice if they are what you're looking for) but it's ultimately a shell. -also, they tend to run a big
My Kelpie Green jacket just arrived. I love the color. My only complaint with this jacket is that the wristbands are a little snug. I bought this jacket as a cheaper replacement to my North Face Venture jacket that I lost last summer. This jacket is nice, but I wish I spent the little bit extra and got the Venture which had adjustable wrists and was slightly longer.
Write your answer here... I am 5"7 and weigh around 170. I have broad shoulders too, so I got an XL. I really don't like for jackets to fit/fit. If I were buying your daughter a jacket, I would buy a large. Good luck!
I loved this jacket - I bought it for my daughter who is away at college and with walking outside quite a bit - she loves it. Wears a sweatshirt underneath and she's good to go! I am buying one myself!
The North Face Resolve Jacket has been a great purchase. It held up to torrential downpours while hiking in Hawaii while staying comfortable and cool. Fits well but can layer underneath it easily for extra warmth. I look forward to getting a lot of use out of this jacket.
Probably medium. I am 5'6" with really long arms and weigh 120 and I always go small in north face...and it's always really roomy. So I would guess you could go for the smaller size if you are in between.
This jacket is the best fall jacket you could ever own. It is a great piece for layering with a long sleeve T. Everybody should wear this jacket, it's as soft as a baby's butt and it's so cozy to wear.
This is a great lightweight waterproof jacket, and very stylish too! I have the Kelly Green color and it goes with everything! Great for hiking in misty wet weather or just walking around New York city in the rain! However, it is not a cold-weather coat, more for tropical/spring rain than winter. Can't wait to wear it on my trip around the world!
This is a great all weather jacket; it is light, durable, and blocks wind along with rain well. I bought it for a trip to the EU and it worked out perfectly...it is roomy enough to put over another coat for when it is really cold and wet! I highly reccomend!
Black is last seasons black (which is why it is discounted), while black/black is this seasons black. Other than that no real difference. Hopefully that makes sense.
Just got this jacket and its so cute on. I usually wear a large and the L fit great. NF's sizes are acurate and true. Much more flattering than the older Columbia rain jacket I used in Oregon for many years now. The Brown one is sick! and just like other reviews would have liked it to be a bit longer but still it goes down at least 3/4 of the way past my booty. :)
I live in Seattle so i was really concerned about this jackets durability and ability to repel the rain. Not only does it keep me toasty but dry as a bone! The color goes with alot of my boots and is very stylish! ~Great Buy~!
please help! i have such horrible luck with buying outdoor gear online. i am 5'6" about 112 lbs and have a very narrow build. if i get an xs will it be way short on the sleeves? then if i get a small will it just be too big in general? also is this jacket fitted at all? i bought a sierra designs kenosha jacket which had an 'athletic fit' and it was not flattering. i just want something to wear over sweatshirts when it gets rainy in missoula, montana.
I was so excited to get this jacket when I ordered it but it didn't look like the image when I tried on. I'm 5'2 and about 120lb and usually wear size 0-2. I got a size xs. The shoulder was bigger and the sleeves were longer too. But I think it's still great price and quality.
The shoulders are not reinforced, however the shell of the jacket is a ripstop nylon and mesh lined so it should have no problem holding up to hiking with a backpack.
I agree with the previous person who posted; it's really thin. It's also very light weight, feels like nothing. I was expecting something a little more insulated, but it gets the job done when it comes to campus life and the unpredictable rainy Oregon weather. I'm 5'5", approx 120 lbs, slightly longer torso and Asian/small build and ordered the XS. I wasn't able to try on a jacket prior to buying it, so I was surprised by how short the jacket is as it only comes down to the top of my hips. One problem I do have with the jacket is the length of the sleeves (I have this problem with most TNF items, so maybe it's just me and my arms); the XS fits fine in the torso but the sleeves are always short (comes down to the bony point of my wrist). The sleeves of S are longer but the rest of the jacket is huge. The jacket is also boxy looking until you cinch in the bottom. The XS was roomy enough for me to wear TNF Pumori fleece jacket underneath (but the Resolve is not a zip-incompatible item). In retrospect, the size S might have been a better choice, since no one likes wet, cold hands when it's raining.
The jacket itself is great; my critiques of it are more cosmetic...it is lightweight and lends itself well to layering, so it can work in any season, and it does breathe well, as well as being waterproof. The hood is annoying because it doesn't stay up on its own in windy weather, and contrary to what another reviewer said elsewhere, I don't think it's necessary to buy a size up--I did, and it looks too baggy on me, so I wish I'd gone with my normal size. It's still a really great rain jacket and overall I'm happy with my purchase!
I looked at the venture, then at the resolve and im having toruble deciding between the two. Is the Resolve warm enough to go skiing in? and is the venture?
Write your question here...Am trying to decide between the Resolve and the Venture. I know both will keep me dry but which one would be cooler in tropical temperatures? It is hot and humid during the rainy season where I live.
I love this jacket! It's pretty breathable and it's really waterproof. I had to sit in some serious downpour for over 3 hours and by the end of it I was the only one dry (from the waist up)! You really get what you are paying for. The mesh liner is a little awkward at first but once it's broken in you don't even notice it. I wear it even when it's not raining!
Will you be manufacturing more of this jacket (e.g., black or dark blue medium) when the last ones are bought? Or will another type of jacket take its place?
They are continuing to make this model. They will be re-stocking it for the upcoming fall/winter season. I would just check back often to see if it has been re-stocked in the color and size you are looking for.
A reviewer on another site (not here) recommended buying a size up, and I thought since I'd want it for layering purposes in colder weather, as well as wearing it alone in warmer weather, I'd follow that; however, I think I would have been fine with my normal size, even after layering. I'm just affirming what another reviewer here said: no need to size up!
I have the boys north face fleece in an extra large. What size do you think I should order this jacket in? I don't know if I would need a small or extra small. The boys larger fits me except the sleeves are to short?
This is what rain jackets are suppose to be like. The cuffs (elastic) keep out the rain. I went for a run the other day in a downpour to really test it out...remained fry--except for my legs. Even had my cellphone in one of the pockets. Definitely worth the price.
This jacket was light weight, packable, and waterproof. It is perfect for those summer rains when it is hot out but you don't want to get soaked. This is not a jacket meant to keep you warm but will keep you very dry and cool in a rainy spring and summer.
Based on all the reviews, this seems like a great jacket and exactly what I'm looking for. My question is about the fit of this jacket: I have a TNF Denali fleece (as seen on college campuses everywhere, lol) in a size Large. It was given to me as a gift, but I think it's a little big on me and looks sort of floppy. I see from the reviews of the Resolve jacket that some people say to order up, so that would be a Large, I think, since the Large in the fleece seems a bit big on me..? Basically, I'm looking for your thoughts on sizing and, secondly, your thoughts on Backcountry.com's returns/exchanges - if I tried it on and wanted a different size, would an exchange be a big hassle? Thank you!
The Resolve jacket is great! I wore it in a downpour the other day, and everything under my jacket stayed completely dry. I was happy to have the elastic cuffs to keep the water out. It fits a little longer and looser, which is makes it nice to put on a layer or two underneath.
what does anyone think about the hood and face guard thing? i want to look nice in this and typically and am not a fan of hoods and am concerned about what the face guard will look like. any help?
I think if you get the black one, you'll look like a ninja. If you end up getting that one, you should seriously consider a major lifestyle change and purchase plenty ninja stars, swords, ropes and hooks, etc. Just watch out for those white ninjas, they are the black ninjas arch enemy...
This jacket's is exactly what I wanted. The jacket does its job... the sizing is a little weird like from xs to s differs by quite a bit so be careful! BUT they weren't lying about fast shipping, I chose the economy shipping(free) said it takes about 7-14 weeks but I received in just 2 days!!
i have the venture, but the resolve is basically the same thing with a nylon lining for comfort...venture is lighter, so if you are an unltralight hiker, camper, ect. then the venture is for you. but for an everyday rain coat the resolve is the best choice from a pricing perspective
I just bought this coat originally to wear walking back and forth to class on rainy day, but have also found it to be a great light weight coat for class. It's great in the rain, but my only complaint is that it is short waisted. But I would still say it does fit very true to size.
I'm looking for a light weight spring jacket for the Chicago area. Do you think this will work? Also is the sizing comparable to other NF jackets? My fleece Denali is a large. Should I order the same size in this jacket?
yep order the same size it will fit the same. Unless you think you want to layer heavy under it. This jacket will keep you dry maybe check out the TNF Venture tho its a littl ebetter rain jacket if thats what you want
I bought this jacket strictly to protect against the windy and rainy days. I also wanted a hood that would come over my face more unlike my Marmot rain jacket that didn't fit over the top of my head thus my face getting wet anyways.
I am short and this jacket hits just below my hips which is good if you wish to wear any type of layer underneath. It is pretty thin but I haven't found myself to be too chilly in it, though if the temp is low I would recommend a base layer fleece or something to help keep you warm.
I bought this jacket for my girlfriend and she loves it. It's her first TNF item and she couldn't be happier. But don't buy this jacket for warmth. Perfect for layering and ultra light. It also arrived at my door in 2DAYS! Thanks Backcountry, your my new outdoor supply company.
I'm trying to decide between the Bliss Blue and the Deep Water Blue. Can someone describe the Bliss Blue. Is it a real baby blue or does it tend more toward cornflower blue. How about the deep water blue. Any descriptions.
I love this jacket. So much that I bought a second one after moving to a very rainy Germany. I now have the brown (two years) and red (five years). It has a great fit adjustments, and I never have problems with the hood. I've taken it spelunking, hiking, climbing, and camping and it's never caught or torn. You would never guess either of them aren't new. They wash well and dry fairly quickly.
This jacket is awesome. It keeps me warm and dry. It's light weight and the red color very pretty. This jacket seems to run big so i would get the size smaller.
If the resolve jacket is lined, and the venture jacket isn't, what makes them so different that there is a $20 price difference? I have yet to find a difference, other than the lining, which appears to be on the cheaper one.
Hey Griffin,Ahhh, the beauties of marketing:) I don't know that there is really a good reason. They decide what they're going to charge and maybe this is one of those cases where TNF decided to throw two prices in the air and wherever they landed was the price of that jacket. There's no real sense sometimes.
Seems like a great jacket. Mine ran really big though. I'm 5'2 and 130 lb and went with a medium, but I need a small. Even with my north face denali jacket underneath, it's just way too puffy!
There is a slight drop in the back to accomodate for where it sits on the hips, but is not noticable on the body. The length from the center of the back is 27 inches.
This is a great jacket. I love the way the hood tucks away into the collar. It certainly repels the rain and is a great windbreaker too. Great for layering. Highly recommend!
I recently bought the North Face Venture Jacket, but had to return it because it was too short in the body(it fell at the top of my hip) Does anyone know if this jacket has the same short body look to it?
Classic rain jacket! Love it! I'm 5'4", 140lbs and I have a feeling I should have ordered a medium instead of large. It's roomy, but great for layering. My favorite part: The hood can be smoothly rolled into the collar! I'm not a fan of hooded jackets either, but head coverage does come in handy during sudden downpours. Good buy.
this was the jacket i was looking for. it is a very bright blue which kinda makes rainy days better. the collar of the jacket is kind of odd, however. it is very wide and the inside has a grey flannelish fabric.
I really like my jacket. It is so versatile, I live in MD and the weather is ever changing. The jacket has a nice hood with a fleece collar, nice pockets and it comes down below the waist.
Perfect lighweight rain jacket for a day trek or just around the town. So comfy. Keep in mind North Face sizes run a little big. Very satisfied with this jacket!
My husband bought me this jacket--It was exactly what I was looking for. After a lot of searching online and in stores, the price is unbeatable and the stores we went to did not have this style (all black and waterproof with a hood.)
It's lightweight and it looks good. It really is the perfect jacket for so many different occasions.
I'm about to use this jacket on a month long trip to Europe. I have worn it around NYC the few weeks I've had it and it's been wonderful in the rain. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I'm 5'11 and it hits just a little shorter than I wished. It's not really their fault I'm an amazon, but I would really like if this came in the parka length. The price difference between this jacket and the other parka was just too much to warrant.
I wear my Resolve jacket throughout all kinds of weather! Excellent for rainy days, but also just for the crisp fall days too! Durable and worth every penny! Considerably warm when worn with a sweater. So great, I ordered the Tri-climate for winter. Can't wait for that coat! I know I will be just as pleased.
This jacket looks great, except for its lack of core ventilation. Can anyone tell me how this jacket performs compared to a jacket with pit zips? Would I be able to use it in warm/not cold weather?
My wife didn't like this jacket much. She didn't like the venting issues and got too hot in the warmth. You might look at backcountry.com jackets. That's what she ended up with and is extremely happy!Hope that helps.
TNF jackets are amazing. I live in Seattle and these jackets keep the rain off. The stowable hood makes this jacket good for any season. Very stylish and comfortable. Fits true to the sizing.
The rain jacket is soft so it feels great. It also has a lined collar which keeps you warm when the wind kicks up. I'm 5'2" and 115lbs. I bought a small and it fits me well. A bit loose so I can layer up if I want. I like it and can't wait to wear it again.
bought as a gift, got several compliments on jacket, real light and thin so you can move around, but keeps you warm like wearing a big coat, definetly a good gift or for yourself, very pleased
If I'd like to wear a NF fleece under this jacket, would you recommend going a size up? I'd still like the fit to be flattering, but want to use the fleece too. Any advice would be great.
If you're right on the border of sizing up then yes I would size up. If you've got descent space then you'll be fine staying with the same size.Hope that helps.
This jacket is really comfortable, and really cute. I ordered a Large, because I have another northface and I like it a little bit bigger to fit hoodies under it. But this jacket was SO BIG! I wanted to exchange it for a small or a medium, but they didn't have the color I wanted anymore. I would highly suggest buying this jacket, but buy it a size smaller than you normally wear!
My daughter really wants this jacket for Christmas. She thought it was on sale for ~$64? And we just moved our family Christmas up to Thanksgiving. Can it ship fast?
I was very pleased with my purchase from Backcountry. They provided a quality product at a good price and they shipped in record time. I'll certainly buy from them again! Thanks Backcountry.
I am very impressed with this jaket,it is more along the lines of a thin wind stop, but read that on the description, when I bought it, so I also bought the 200.Which is great I have been layering the two, on cold days and/or can wear either on,if I just want to keep comfy when its chilly.
The green in this jacket is a wonderful happy color! I was very confused before buying about the price differences between the two NF jackets, but I think this is great. Being 5' 3" it hits around my actual hip bones, which is nice that it's not too long. The lining is a nice mesh that keeps the jacket from sticking to you. In NYC's hot summer rain, it's still a little warm, but I just use the velcro instead of the zipper to close it so that I don't get as hot. The hood does not have a very extended brim, but I'm content with it for normal use. If you have large wrists I would not suggest getting the Resolve because on my x-small the elastic and non-changeable wrists fit snugly...which could be too tight easily if the other sizes don't increase the wrist size very much. Overall, I think it's great so far and the water beads off very nicely!
This is a great jacket for rainy weather, esp. on campus! It is very lightweight and the hood is perfect for keeping your head dry, even when it is pouring. I am 5'3" 110 lbs and ordered a Small. The fit is perfect! This is a great choice for anyone looking for a jacket to keep them warm and dry in rainy conditions!
I liked the feel of this jacket (material wise, it felt less like a plastic sheet for some reason) than the more expensive Venture Jacket by THF. It's a nice jacket with a great cut that flatters. However, the wrists are a bit snug and the jacket is pretty short. If you don't mind your shirts poking out at the hip then it'll serve you well.
I was very anxious to get this great jacket as I am going fishing n Canada next month and really wanted one that is lightweight and waterproof. Got the jacket on and it fit great until I tried to zip it up!! Unfortunately, designers seem to have forgotten that some of us women have breasts larger than 34A... Had to send it back because I can't shrink and it would not expand...
