The North Face Re Meow Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Climashield HL Green

The North Face Re Meow Sleeping Bag uses recycled Pertex fabric and recycled Climashield HL Green to warm you without warming the planet. Don’t think for a second that this sleeping bag sacrifices any performance. The North Face added a full-length draft tube to cover the zipper and baffled construction to eliminate cold spots and ensure a toasty night. This synthetic-insulated bag makes it under the three-pound mark to keep your pack light and make your day on the trail as comfortable as your night in camp.

Bottom Line: Go green and stay warm.

I have to agree with the review underneath mine. This bag looked promising online but definitely was a disappointment. The material is comfortable and the green color is sweet, but it is definitely tight in the hips and shoulders. I'm 6'0" 190 and was uncomfortable in it. If you are a smaller person you may have better luck.

I'm 5'10 150, and find the sleeping bag roomy enough to not be coffin-like.

Is this Pertex Endurance or another of their waterproof linings

Is this Pertex Endurance or another of their waterproof linings or is this just standard non-waterproof nylon?

this is not waterproof, but does shed water pretty well. In general this is a great bag for wet conditions. Synthetic insulations have come a long way in the last few year and the climbshield is super impressive for its warmth and packability and comfort compared to down. Way more durable and versatile than down, this is the do-it-all bag

No Thanks

Was excited to get this sleeping bag and try it out. In fact was going to use it for myself from time to time but mostly for my girlfriend ( i have an awesome down bag from Western Mountaineering...they make awesome bags). Anyway, got it in great timing for a trip (Backcountry is great on expediency) and tested the 'fit' out in my living room....Uncomfortably tight in the shoulders AND the hips. Now, ya gotta understand...I'm about the size of Frodo Baggins...short, not big framed or big boned...maybe a little broad in the shoulders but not bodybuilder type...and I certainly don't have birthing hips! But this bag was simply not roomy around the hip area and I had to essentially keep my arms on my chest to feel any sense of room in the bag across my shoulders. It was an instant , "forget about it" moment! I own other mummy bags so it's not an issue of not being used to a closer fit due to the mummy style. This bag just isn't roomy. So I KNEW not only would I not look forward to being in it but my girlfriend (who has great hips by the way) would not be comfortable. So....no thanks. Got a Western Mountaineering mummy instead. Happy as all get out that I switched

Go green, but you may get stuck

Initially i was interested in the TNF Cat's Meow since it had such great reviews, until i saw that the Re Meow was on the market. Its made of 100% recycled materials which is a plus. My first use was in Yellowstone where temps dropped to mid-30s at night. I thought i would be comfortable with capilene 3 base layers on, without a sleeping bag liner, and on a Thermarest pad, but boy was i wrong! I am 5'7" and 125lbs and have a hard time maintaining heat. By the last day of my trip i was sleeping with base layers, plus double socks, plus a sweatshirt and fleece cap. I tried a different method every night to see what would work best and the night i was the warmest is when i used a blanket inside the bag to line it. Since this product is not specifically designed for women, there is extra room inside, and you should use a liner to keep warm.

A word of caution, the zipper on the bag gets stuck often. It was often frustrating to get in and out of this bag. There is nothing worse than burning up inside a mummy bag and not being able to get out. I would have given this bag a 5-star rating had it not been for the zipper situation. Other than that, great loft. You will be as snug as a bug in a rug if you line the bag.
