The North Face Queen Jacquard Jacket - Women's - 2007

The North Face Women's Queen Jacquard Jacket protects you from wet, chilly winter weather, and the jacquard print on this insulated jacket adds fun detail to your ski outfit. The waterproof breathable HyVent fabric and fully taped seams work to block moisture during winter storms, and low-profile insulation in the body and sleeves keeps you cozy without making the Queen Jacquard ski jacket feel bulky. Pull up the hood as you wait in the lift line, and use the Underarm zips to dump heat after hard runs. The North Face Queen Jacquard Jacket's powder skirt blocks snow, and interior pockets store your goggles and keys. A built-in RECCO device may aid ski patrol in the event of a slide.

Bottom Line: Stay warm and dry on the slopes with The North Face Queen Jacquard Jacket.

What is the lining inside the collar (next to your neck)? Is it the same taffeta as the rest of the jacket, or is it a nice soft fleece?

I'm answering my own question since I went ahead and bought the jacket anyway :-)Yes, the inside of the collar is lined in a soft peachy fleece so its comfortable next to your chin. However when zipped all the way up the collar is REALLY tall (up to your nose!).

Fine Jacket!

I have this jacket in black. It's beautiful. I've also seen the Icy Blue Swirl and almost bought it, but black is so classic and the swirls add zazz! I've had the jacket out in a variety of weather conditions and am very satisfied. It kept me dry inside (muy breathable) and out (waterproof HyVent) during a heavy wet snowstorm when I was packing kids, dragging Christmas tree off the mountain, etc. My biggest worry was that the coat wouldn't be warm enough during truly cold conditions. I wore it walking yesterday at -5F with a 5-10 mile breeze. I wasn't working especially hard and I was still plenty warm. It really kept the wind out too. The zipper is a little finicky, but seems to be getting better.

Decent ski jacket

Overall I like this jacket. It has all the bells and whistles necessary for a good ski jacket: windproof, waterproof, sealed seams and vents to keep the cold out, lots of pockets, elasticized powder skirt, etc. The insulation isn't bulky (like a down jacket) but it does its job. It kept me warm while skiing on a 35-40 degree day with light winds, though by the afternoon I did have to open the pit zips to cool off, but I stayed dry inside. The textured fabric is an added interest and it makes it different from your run-of-the mill ski jacket. My only two dislikes are the crackly fabric that makes noise every time you move (don't try to sneak up on anyone! LOL) ...and the rather boxy shape with no waist definition. I'd love to have seen some kind of waist drawcord or elastic in the back to make it a bit more feminine. I'm a very average size Medium and I felt this size Medium is slightly big with just a baselayer underneath, however if you want to layer additional shirts there is room.
