This jacket is a good rain jacket. It is very breathable and works in all kinds of weather conditions. South Carolina has adverse weather changing 40 or more degrees in just a couple of hours. This jacket works out perfectly because if breathes when you sweat in the heat and keeps the wind and rain out when it is cold.

The North Face Prophecy is a terrific rain jacket. It packs small and light and performs in light and heavy rain. I take it with me to work, to camp, hike, horseback riding, etc. It has a great fit for a rain jacket with no bulk. The arm pocket is perfect for an mp3 player, credit cards, etc. The sleeves are a little long, so if sleeves in your size usually fit you a little long, you may want to go with the smaller size. I have a few hooded jackets, and this jacket by far has the best hood. It comes over the forehead just enough to give a little extra protection for your head. I highly recommend this for an all-purpose rain jacket.

This is the lightest waterproof jacket I have tried on. The taped seams ensure that nothing gets through and the HyVent waterproofing material is terrific. I've worn this is a downpour and stayed as dry as a bone. A nice surprise is the little zippered stash pocket on the sleeve. Its perfect for keys, emergency whistle, tootsie rolls, whatever. If you see the clouds coming in, grab this jacket and you'll be happy.
