The North Face Prophecy Jacket - Men's - 2009

The North Face updated its Men’s Prophecy Jacket to make it even lighter weight. This rain shell protects you from getting drenched during a storm, yet it breathes exceptionally well, so you don’t get sweat-soaked instead. The Prophecy’s waterproof breathable DT fabric is the minimalist’s dream—instead of a third layer, a micro-grid print works as a barrier between the jacket and skin, so you shave ounces without sacrificing durability and performance. Unzip the venting hand pockets (which you can still get to with a pack or climbing harness on) when you need extra air circulation. When nasty weather just gets nastier, pull up the adjustable hood, and cinch the waist drawcord to seal yourself inside.

nice jacket

Super light weight, but feels sturdy. Perfect as an outer shell for backpacking. Looks good too. Would've given 5 stars if it wasn't for the price. But you want the best gear, it's never cheap. Would buy again.

Depends on what your using it for. If it's being used as a downhill ski jacket where you anticipate glancing by trees or getting snagged on branches, then it will tear. If you plan on rock climbing with it and expect to abrade it on rock, it will show signs of wear. However, if you are using it as a lightweight backpacking jacket and are not hard on your gear this jacket should last many years.

I'm one who believes breathability (i.e. comfort) is key and this jacket just wouldn't cut it for me. I've owned a few eVent jackets that are far superior in breathability to anything else...much better than HyVent DT and even including Gore Tex, EVent can be expensive, but worth it in my opinion...

Great rain jacket, a little snug

I'm 5'8" and weigh 170 lbs and the small is a little more snug than my Marmot Precip of the same size. Not so bad that I'd send it back though. Overall, this jacket is a great value for the price. While it's not Gor-tex, it's definitely the closest thing I've found, not to mention this jacket breathes well. We haven't had any rain for a while so I turned my shower on and got in. Despite the heavy deluge I remained completely dry. Great jacket.
