The North Face Prolix Vest - Men's - 2009

The North Face Men’s Prolix Vest uses Apex Aerobic softshell on the front and mesh panels on the back to provide wind protection and insulation without overheating you. In addition to 20cfm wind protection, this jacket includes a DWR coating to provide extra weather resistance for your day in the backcountry. The North Face even added reflective logos to make you easier to see if you decide to run the road instead of the trails.

Bottom Line: Half softshell, half windshirt.

NF Prolix Vest

I have been looking for a lightweight, compressible vest that blocks wind while breathing, and dries quickly. I do alot of peakbagging, and sweat alot, so I like the vest option as a way of keeping the core warm while allowing the dissipation of heat. I have used it three times so far in Winter - Spring conditions, each time with winds in the 15 - 30 plus MPH range. The vest blocked the wind effectively, breathed well, and dried quickly.
