It might seem like a small detail, but the front pockets on The North Face Women's Precita Pants have stitched-through outlines. This adds a bit of casual, patch-pocket style to these cotton bottoms. If you've ever spent five minutes groping around trying to un-button or re-button your back pant pockets (while soliciting unwanted help offers from the male company nearby), you'll appreciate the Precita Pant's button-less back pockets.
I am 5'10 and very slender... i have the 2 long, and LOVE them... i am constantly looking for pants long enough to fit just right in all the right places. these are them!!! perfect in length and espec around the hips... so excited that north face has made a pant that can be worn off the hip!!! ( yeah a tad pricy, but if they hold up to TNF name, they will last ;))
These pants fit nice in general - low on the hip, which I like, and I'd ordered the 4 Short (30in. inseam) and the overall length worked pretty well (I'm 5'4"). The only problem I had w/these pants (which is why I decided to return them) was that the crotch sat/hung 'low'. This was disappointing considering I loved they way that sat on the hips. The material was a bit stiffer than I anticipated (nothing that a few washes wouldn't fix I imagine), and the bottoms flared a bit too much for me. The only reason I returned them was personal style preference after trying them on. They'd definitely be good fall/winter casual pants though.
Very comfortable pants. The long length is perfect for longer legs (I'm 5'9") - they don't show my ankles, nor do I step on the ends. Like the previous reviewer who gave them 5 stars, they sit perfectly on my hips.
I wear these both for work and play, since the material can go either way. They seem pretty durable (no frayed ends after a few months of abuse). As mentioned in the description, I can actually fit things I need in my pockets without being uncomfortable.
I got these in two colors, they are that flattering and functional. Length and rise as well as overall cut are casual yet not totally rugged looking, making them versatile. They wash and wear well, no wrinkles despite all-cotton fabric with no special treatments. But, I found that I needed a size larger than my usual TNF -- but then I usually need a size (or two) smaller in TNF since their pants tend to stretch out with wear. Precita has a heavy twill weave and no stretch at all.
Gotta love the clean lines that help these go effortlessly from trail to town. No stretch at all -- a heavier cotton canvas than TNF Libra Cargo, the Precita holds their shape well, and no need to size down; they won't grow on you after a few hours wear. I have them in every color, regular length for flats and boots and long length to wear with heels (they are that flattering). TNF casual wear sizing isn't always consistent -- Precita 8, fits like Libra Cargo in 6, and Parker Patch Cord in 4. I'm 5'6" and a standard size 6 in most street wear labels.
Comfy as can be, they fit very well and are flattering. Of course, maybe I have a strange body type and TNF is catering to those of us who have long hips (I know, WTF, but it's true). The cotton twill is very soft and pliable but not too thin. I'm 5'6" and the regular length was perfect for me, which isn't always the case (I sometimes have to go long). They also sit comfortably between the waist and the hipsneither too high, nor do they have a 2" zipperso you're not going to look like a granny, but there's also no worry about flashing your unmentionables.
I will order more of these for everyday wear, but also for traveling. Bless TNF for making pants that fit and are multi-purpose!
I've gotten used to North Face products running large on me. By the size chart I should be a 12, but these I ordered in a 10. The 10s swam on me, so I exchanged for an 8, which are *still* too big. That said, I think maybe a 6 would be too small so I've kept my 8s. I wear a belt and they look baggy but not silly. They are seriously strong pants. Comfortable but durable. Dirt doesn't seem to stick to them and they dry faster than denim (but don't tear like other cotton pants might). The pockets are roomy and functional without disrupting the clean look. These are slightly longer than other TNF pants I have, but I haven't needed to hem them. I'm 5'4" and wear the size 8 regular with thick-soled shoes. I recommend them, but be prepared to order at least a size down from you would normally wear from TNF.
I always like North Face for my hiking pants. They always provide lightweight yet durable and rugged pants with big pockets to collect your "treasures." These particular pants are one of my favorites. I am between a 2 and a 4, so I ordered the 4 short (I'm 5'2") They are a perfect fit length-wise. Although I can't be a good judge of waist fit as I am between a size, and to me the 4 stretched a little too much in the waist for me to the point that I have to wear a belt if I'm hiking or hitch them up once and a while when I'm around the house, lest they be considered hip-huggers. The fabric is a fantasic-feeling lightweight canvas that you will shun your blue jeans for on casual days. The leg openings are big enough to fit over boots or to look quite dapper in flip flops. These are great for sight-seeing trips as they travel well and are wrinkle resistant.
I returned these. like the previous reviewer said, they fit oddly, hanging low in the crotch but then they were snug through the hips (I got a 4 regular). they didn't feel like they'd be comfortable at all. kind of disappointed in TNF--I have several pairs of pants from them and these were nearly unwearable!
I often buy products from The North Face and I liked these pants. The only problem was the fit. I even checked the size of two other North Face pairs I own before ordering the size I did. The low-slung look would have been fine but they swam on me. The fabric seemed durable. It would have been a practical rugged style for weekends.
These pants are really well made and such a nice look. I really wanted to like them, but they just didn't fit right. The crotch was really low and the waist bulged a bit, even though the rest of the pants fit well. I think women with longer hips would probably really like these pants. Order a size smaller than you would with other TNF pants.
I ordered these in a size 6, as I traditionally wear a 6 in NF pants, but typically wear between a 4 and 6 in most brands. They fit a touch larger than expected. For the price, I can't complain. The rise is also higher than I expected from the reviews, but the pants are comfortable and the soil brown color is really great.
