The North Face Men’s Polar Down Jacket is exactly the piece you want if you find yourself outside in the dead of winter or accidentally lock yourself in a freezer. Zip yourself in, seal up the hood, and let the 700-fill down keep you nice and toasty while the rest of world grows frost. Lots of pockets provide tons of storage room in The North Face Polar Down Jacket, so you can easily bring along some gloves, a beanie, or flask to take off the edge. This jacket also includes an internal water-bottle pocket, so your beverage of choice doesn’t freeze solid when you’re hanging in camp.
Bottom Line: Sometimes you just need a little more insulation than the average jacket.
Actually this style won't be available from north face for fall '09 so if you are absolutely in love with this style I would start hunting around for one. Otherwise hang tight until this Fall and i'm sure Backcountry will have comparable styles available.
I am planning a hiking trip in Nepal reaching 5000m altitude in november. Is this a right choice for this kind of use? I am worried about the material not being fully waterproof, or is good enough. Would you recommend a McMurdo Parka instead.
I just bought the NorthFace Polar Jacket. I also own the Mountain Hardware SL jacket. The Mountain Hardware SL Jacket was bought in XL and the North Face Polar Parka in LARGE. The North Face material is thicker and shell is much tougher with more Goose Filling resulting in a warmer jacket. I don't think the Northface will compact better then the Mountain Hardware SL Jacket. The Mountain Hardware SL can be pressed down to a football sized unit for the backpack. Bottom line, the Northface Polar is thicker, warmer and a bit longer, but shorter than the Canada Goose Expidition vs. the Mountain Hardware SL which rides around the beltline. The Mountain Hardware SL jacket has less goose fill = less warmer and is about 1/3 the pirce cheaper vs. the North Face Polar Parka. But defitnately, I would wear the North Face to walk around town or the woods and the Mountain Hardware SL to work or the supermarket...
I received this jacket a few days ago and I'm very pleased with it. Just came back from a night walk with the dog at 10 degrees of cold Chicagoan winter and felt very warm and protected. One small caveat - it's not as long as the parka coats.
I've tried looking at sizing charts in the past with little success. I guess a medium would fit but you never know until you try it on. Anyone know if the polar jacket is at a store? Or other suggestions? Thanks
I'm having trouble determining the correct size for the North Face Mens Polar Jacket. No store carries it. Is there any way to see it before purchasing it or a jacket that is similar in size?
I OWN THE MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR SUBZERO SL PARKA - WHICH HAS 15 OUNCES OF DOWN. I THINK IT'S A VERY WARM PARKA WITH GOOD WIND RESISTANCE.QUESTION: IS THE NORTH FACE PARKA A WARMER PARKA AND DOES IT HAVE AS GOOD WIND RESISTANCE?THANKS FOR ANY ANSWER. JEFF L.
