The North Face Plasma GTX XCR Boa II Boot - Women's

When you want lightweight, supportive, and waterproof, choose The North Face Women's Plasma GTX XCR Boa II Boots. These The North Face speed hikers feature high cuffs for ankle stability, plus they have Gore-Tex liners to ensure your feet stay dry on damp trails. Boa laces on the Plasmas let you get a precise fit at the turn of a dial, and heel air pods absorb shock as you bound along.

Bottom Line: Take on mud, stream crossings, and snow during your fast ascent of Mount Baldy.

when it says gortex insert, does that mean that the boots are only gortex if you insert a seperate liner into the boot, or is the insert a permanant part of the boot?

It is a permanent part of the boot. It is the most expensive and reliable type of waterproofing system in boots right now, sometimes manufacturers just use panels where boots are exposed to moisture or use a treatment on the outside of the boot, but an "insert" or "gore-tex bootie" (same things), are really the best way to make truly waterproof boot.

Meh...

This boot is comfortable and amazing in all ways...except for one. Where the boot bends as you conclude a step at the base of your big toe, it feels quite painful and sharp - the material is so sturdy that when it bends towards the foot it actually doesn't give with the forward-pressure of your toe and hurts it. If you can stand to break it in long enough to get rid of that feeling, then more power to you, they are really fantastic except for that one factor.

The laces are incredible and twist evenly so it is just the most secure boot for your foot. The treads bite deep and they are fantastic for trails.
