The North Face Women’s Paramount Moraine Short’s DWR finish springs into action when it starts to drizzle on your backpacking trip. When the sun comes out, ultraviolet protection in the fabric helps block harmful rays. The Moraine Short dries quickly during canyoneering trips, and multiple front and back pockets hold lip balm and a headlamp as you get ready to set up camp.
i wish i owned a pair for every day of the week. these shorts are superb.
i have recently lost a lot of weight and have a hard time finding shorts that will stay on my hips, the hidden draw string makes this possible. the fabric is light, airy, so you don't get hot. the freedom of movement is wonderful, again it's the fabric. pockets for different items are awesome. one is big enough for slipping my iphone into, the small zippered pocket is great for carrying a small item that i don't want to lose.....
my boyfriend's comment after looking at photos from a day of hiking, "hey aren't those the same shorts you were wearing when we went biking last weekend? I know, cause I have a photo of you from that day."
These are my favorite shorts by far. They are just the right length, not too short and not too long. Lots of pockets, including one that is zippered so I don't lose my keys. I have found that North Face clothing can vary but I ordered the size 4 regular, which is my typical size and it fit perfectly. If I lose a little weight, there is a neat drawstring to take up the slack. They are wrinkle resistant and, best of all, have a SPF of 30. Awesome shorts!
Write your question here...Do these shorts really run small? I usually wear a 4 in north face shorts but the reviews make me wonder if i do need to size up.
These are very comfortable. They aren't too long or too short. Get your regular size, however, as I took the suggestions of others and ordered 2 sizes bigger. They were huge! I returned them and got 1 size larger, they too were baggy. But I kept them and just tightened the strings. Good quality.
Best hiking shorts I have ever owned... buy one or more pair every year...! Keep water off and dry quickly in rain... have hiked in snow and HOT weather...!
I am the same height and short waisted as well...I have two pairs of these shorts (the greenish ones and the gray) and they fit well sitting exactly on the top of my hips. I have a slim build (113 lbs) and often have trouble finding shorts that will stay up, but the drawstring really helps with that. These shorts have been hiking in the Alps, yet look great for strolling around town! Just a tip though, order your normal size, as they are pretty true to standard sizing!
These have ended up being great shorts for hiking, but as everyone else has said, you need to go 1-2 sizes up for a comfortable fit. The rise is higher than most women's shorts and pants, but not too high (I guess medium rise), the "regular" length is pretty sensible, and these are also really cute. I'm considering getting a second pair, but I might go 2 sizes up, because I went one size up on my current pair and even then they're a little bit tight in the waist.
Like the other reviews, these are great shorts! I have them in two colors. But they do run small. I wear a 12 in everything, mostly every designer. I had to get these in a 16 because the 14 was still too tight. Just be prepared to go up at least one size, maybe two.
I ordered the 8" inseam length which isn't the most flattering. Also I typically wear an 8, but ordered a 10 in these. They were still too small. I ended up returning them.
I agree with the other poster on a little small, I ordered some other TNF shorts and was a 2 and these in a 2 were too small. I would say order your usual size or upwards but not down. Cute shorts nice material and good durability. Perfect for hiking in the summer.
