More than just a rafting bootie, The North Face Women's Padda Amphibious Shoe can easily handle a 12-mile approach and then take on a river crossing without any problems. The hydrophobic synthetic leather withstands on-trail abuse and doesn't absorb water even when completely submerged. The North Face Padda Amphibious Shoe fits your needs for rafting, kayaking, chilling at the beach, or any hiking trips that involve stream and river crossings.
Bottom Line: From the trail to the river, The North Face Padda Amphibious Shoe handles it all.
I also bought these shoes for kayaking and since it's my first pair of water shoes I did not know what to expect. To my surprise the shoes are very comfortable so I can take them on a light hike and they look great on the foot too! They have a plastic sole with small holes in it to let the water out, but it's not at all bothersome as it actually feels rather nice on the bare foot. With a sock, it's like you have snickers on. The shoes run a bit large though, so order half a size smaller. I am a 9 for elegant shoes and a 9.5 for hiking shoes/boots, and I had to return my size 9 pair to exchange it for an 8.5 size. I will definitely use these North Face Padda as my secondary pair of hiking shoes, and maybe even wear them once or twice in the city as they really look cool.
Me too. I agree with this entire review. I love these but they are too big for me. I hike in mine and where them in the city when it down pours. These take the worry out of the weather forecast for whatever you need to do. Too bad I can't get away with wearing them to the office.
i wear a 9 in most shoes (9.5 in puma and nike). i ordered an 8.5 in the paddas, and 9 in the sieve II shoes, and they BOTH fit fine. it's weird there isn't brand consistency in sizing, but i'm just happy they fit. i would recommend ordering half a size down.
I have a pair of the men's and they run true to size. They are lower volume, so if you have a average to narrower foot like me, they will probably fit well.
While I love this shoe, I was wondering if anyone has gone hiking with them. Will that cause too much wear and tear on the shoes if they're used for hiking rather than just water activities? Thanks!
LOVED these shoes. Comfortable and stylish. Can wear with socks or without. I did find they run even bigger than billed. From past reviews, I ordered 1/2 size down but had to return them because that was still too big. One whole size down from my usual size is the perfect fit.
Just wore them white water rafting and they performed very well. Water slipped right out the mesh, no pebbles got in until the very end when I was literally standing in the marshy bottom of the river. They remained damp for a few hours but certainly not soaked. These shoes did much better than Chaco or Keen's that everyone else was wearing. And I can easily wash them off and they'll be good as new for my next outing.
I am a true fan of the Tech Amphib. I've owned about 4 pairs over the years and these are by far the best shoe I've ever worn! I have very sensitive feet and can't wear flip flops, so these are my substitues. I rarely wear socks with these shoes and as long as you get a size that fits correctly, you should have no problem with blisters.
I got these for kayaking / rafting and they are very comfortable. I have another brand of water shoes that are not totally closed in and pebbles are always getting stuck in my shoes. I like that these are totally closed in yet still let water out the sides and bottom. Althought I haven't worn them in the water yet I walked around in them for about a half a day and they were very comfortable. These do run a bit big but that was perfect for me since I am a size 10 1/2 which is very difficult to find. I ordered a size 10 and they fit perfectly.
I was wondering if I were to buy this shoe and get it and then decide I do not like it or need a different size, how much is return shipping? Sorry, I am new at this and did not realize it would be posted for everyone to read.
Return is $6.99 if you print the UPS electronic return label that the site recommends. If you click on your existing order and go to return an item, you will have a link giving you an option to generate this label.
These shoes are absolutely amazing and I would recommend them to anyone that does a fair amount of kayaking or canoeing. I have not done a long hike in these shoes but the water drains real well and cannot see why they would not work out for that reason. The fine webbing on the shoes keep most little rock out of the shoes. Usually what is left in mine when I get done with one of my adventures is a little sand in the bottom. They do a pretty good job keeping your feet cool and keeping you stable when trying to portage out of a river with slippery rocks around. you do not need to wear socks with these shoes, and i have noticed over time that they have not gotten stinky because of it. :) They seem true to size and very durable. Happy shopping!
Pretty and comfy. I haven't used it in water but the material seems very conducive to drainage. I agree w/ everyone else about going down half a size. I usually wear 9 in sneakers and 8.5 in sandals. 8.5 for this shoe was perfect.
Simply the best! Fully reccommend. Run a little big so order a half size smaller than usual. Of course serviceability is of the highest quality, but beyond that they look good enough to wear out and about as opposed to just on the trail. They've found a true believer in me
