Sometimes a fleece jacket feels like a thin beach towel. Disappointing. The North Face Women’s Osito Fleece Jacket, however, feels like a high-loft, plush, fuzzy fleece blanket. A standard fit means the Osito slides easily over a tee or long-sleeve thermal top, and the cuff-snaps attach to The North Face Triclimate shells for a day on the slopes.
Hi Robin - not quite as warm as the Denali. The Osito is about a 200 weight fleece, where the Denali is a 300 weight - so the Denali is going to be quite a bit warmer.
The jacket is incredibly soft but a little too narrow in the sleeves and chest which makes it hard to wear the jacket zippered up or with anything but a thin shirt.
Hi Bobbie- comfort ranges vary pretty drastically from person to person, but in general I would probably call this jacket comfortable down to the mid 40 degree range. With regards to wind resistance, that won't be one of the strong points for this jacket as it is high loft fleece without any type of wind barrier. If you are looking for fleece with some type of wind blocking barrier, here are a couple of suggestions: -The North Face Windwall 2 jacket -The North Face Reversible Chameleon Jacket Hope this helps
I am trying to find a northface summit series jacket with the hi loft fleece. Seems impossible to find. I saw this Osita jacket and wondered if it was a similar fleece. Thanks for your help.
I recently got the Pink Ribbon (for Breast Cancer Awareness Month) Osito Jacket in white from a diff website. It was my first NF jacket, and I really wanted the pink ribbon edition. I thought by jacket, it would be something I could wear on cold fall days, so I orded a large. I'm 5'8 and 160 pounds. It's a beautiful, but it's just way too big for me. And it also fits like sweatshirt, not a jacket. It truIy is soft, and by layering with it, it would be a great winter coat. still have the tags on it if anybody is interested.......
I have had this jacket for three weeks, and it has been great so far. It is surprisingly warm, and although it isn't windproof, I have been surprised by its wind resistance. It was snowing lightly the other day and I wasn't cold. It is also nice indoors; I can wear it in my drafty office, and it isn't too warm.
Write your question here... I'm thinking of going to a store to try on this jacket but am wondering what temps it's good for. It says "chilly" but what temps does this mean, is it good for 30s and 40s with layering underneath?
Great value, we have seen this same jacket other places for $120 to $130. We love the soft feel! It is not a heavy winter jacket. But it is great here in Alabama where we don't have a lot of super cold weather.
I recently purchased the Ositio offline and decided to go with a large. Do you think this is the correct size?...I'm 5'6'' and roughly 140lbs...I heard that this jacket runs a tad small, so just wondering. Thanks
I got this jacket about 2 months ago with some Christmas money I had received. At first, I loved it. Very warm and soft. Now that I have had it for 2 months, the silken fleece is matting up on the front and bottom of the jacket. It went from being a pretty jacket to a tacky looking jacket in no time! I had my doubts about how this would hold up when I bought it. TNF customer service has been miserable to deal with. They want ME to be responsible for costs of repair/replacement!!! I will think twice about purchasing from TNF again, and will NOT get this jacket again, ever! Should have went with the Khumbu. It is a little cheaper and looked to have sturdier workmanship.
This jacket is wonderfully soft and fuzzy. It is warm but does not help with the wind. It fits like a sweatshirt, not a jacket. I thought about this item for 2 weeks and then had to finally purchase it because of all its great characteristics!
I wouldn't recommend tumble drying anything synthetic whether it sheds or not (I believe this issue has been addressed on the Osito). Synthetic fabircs all dry pretty quickly without tumble drying, and I think it really extends the life of any synthetic. Nice to save a little energy too.
great jacket. love the fuzziness and the color I get tons of compliments and it is very warm - perfect for my climate in the South. it does run a little small. I normally wear XS but got S thank goodness. It doesn't fit comfortably over my thicker sweaters, but... you should definitely get this jacket! It is great!
This jacket is super cozy. It is more form fitting than my other fleece jackets so I wouldn't wear it over a bulky sweater. But it also seems to stretch along with my movement so it doesn't feel tight. I am usually in between a small and medium and the small works well over a single layer underneath. It's so cozy I often leave it on when I come back indoors because I hate to take it off!
I am 5'11" and am looking for a fleece jacket with long sleeves but not too bulky. I am failry thin so I can't buy large sizes to accomodate for my height. Do you think this jacket will work? if not, do you have any suggestions?
I am 5'10 and purchased a Large. The sleeves are long enough but not as long as my thermal fleece jacket. I do like that the jacket is a little more fitted than others....very fuzzy and warm. Hope that helps!
Ok, I've tried to wear it several times but it sheds so much black lint all over my clothes and car, etc that it is really making it difficult. I called your company and was told to hand wash and hand dry, but that only helped a little. I really like it but I cannot wear it!! What's the deal?
This is a great jacket but beware of it being a tad smaller in the chest. Not roomy like the Denali's. My daughter loves it but unlike the Denali jackets, we have been getting 2+ years out of wear, this one will need replacing next year because the sizing runs smaller. But this is a great jacket!
Have had this jacket for roughly a month now and just love it!!! It is lightweight but oh so cuddly warm!! I hate wearing anything too heavy especially while going in and out of stores. This is perfect! Get lots of compliments on it too!
I am not one who likes to wear jackets. This one is wonderful though. Keeps the chill out while being lightweight. Must say I love the Jewel Blue, for it compliments my eyes greatly! ;-) Great buy!
I bought this coat for our younger daughter, but when our older daughter came home from college she loved it and wore it all weekend. I guess I should have bought two! It is a great coat for the price.
I need the Northface zip Ositos jacket in black in size Medium for my daughters birthday. All the stores here are sold out. Do you have any left in inventory or know where I can purchase one on line? Thank you
there is gray around the inside of the collar and also inside the coat. there is no gray visable on the outside of the coat, other than the north face logo.
I bought this jacket as a Christmas present for my mom, and she loves it! It's so soft and warm. After seeing how much my mom likes hers, I'm considering buying one for myself.
i've never gotten a north face before, but i really like this one. I've tried others on and i'm always a Medium, but i've heard this runs small. i'd wear this jacket to school with a tank so im not looking for lots of extra room for layers. Would a Medium be the right size still?
My daughter got one from me for xmas. We returned it for a larger size. She felt the small I got her was too tight in the arms, she like to layer her clothes too.I'd stick with the medium since you don't want to layer it.
Pink is hard to find. They are always coming out with new colors, well...different shades of colors anyway. Good luck, check the clearence section. See if anyone returns a pink one. If you don't want it I do! I just love these jackets. They are so washer friendly and really snuggly!
This jacket is the perfct mix of soft and cozy and warm and comfortable. Not to thick to restict movement, not to thin for a cold day. I love it! This is my go every where essential. I often buy it as a gift and hear the same remarks from those who recieve it!!
I am looking for a Black Osito Fleece Jacket in an XL. My daughter in-law wants one real bad. It doesn't seem you have that size. Will you have any in before Christmas?
That's a question for the bc.com reps. You can contact them by calling the 1800# or clicking on the "chat now" icon, both of which are available at the top righthand corner of the page. They have direct access to inventory and warehouse.
Fantastically soft. Love it! Just wish the logo wasn't on the back. Bad enough to have to have it on the front. Takes away some of the versatility having the big logo there. Can't wear it for dressier occasions.
A great jacket, though. Keeps one comfortable indoors and out .
I bought the black osito north face jacket for my daughter for Christmas and she just loves it. She has worn it everyday since she first opened it. She loves the warmness and softness of this jacket very much! Along with it, I purchased gloves, scarf and the matching hat. It was a huge Christmas hit for our daughter.
I am looking for a North Face Osito Fleece Jacket that is "Brownie Brown" and XL. I cant find this particular jacket under your options. Does this mean you dont have the jacket at all or just not for $98.95?
Bought this for the wife in green and now she wants one in white as well! She can't get enough, super soft, comfy and functional. This replaces the hoodie without the bulk but twice the comfort.
I'm trying to buy the Osito full zip fleece jacket as a gift. I need black or white, size large. The North Face website says the white one is available, but when I'm directed to your site, it does not show that it's available. Please let me know asap. I need to order as a Christmas gift.
I was directed to your store via the North Face website while looking for a W Osito-Blk-Med jacket. It does not appear that this is available. Do you not carry it or are you waiting for a new shipment? Thanks.
The big difference between the two jackets is the Polartec® Thermal Pro fabric, which gives the jacket 4 times the wind resistance. It is worth paying for for wind resistance! If you are looking for a fleece that works well alone and as a layer I would get the Denali Thermal, or one of the Gore windstopper fleeces.
I have looked at many other north face jackets and i really need one that can keep me warm in 20 degree weather to get from class to class. Do you think this will be warm enough for MI weather?
I'm thinking about buying a north face.I have looked at many other web sites[including thenorthface.com] & have found a few that I like but are too expensive if I'm just going to be buying for the brand name.Should I buy this one for the Discount rate.?Or would it be a better idea to pay more for a better quality.?
North Face is North Face. The stuff from Backcountry is genuine gear, so if the discount rate is better here, go for it.Backcountry only says genuine articles. No fake gear here, only the best!
I am looking for a jacket that will keep me warm walking from class to class. I live in the mountains in greenville, sc and i was wondering if this would be suitable. and what jacket should i get for hiking?
Considering Greenville barely gets below freezing at night in the middle of winter, you should be fine with just this. In fact, it'd be a pretty good hiking jacket as well, but it's not water- or windproof, so you might want to get a shell or some kind of Windstopper, depending on what kind of conditions you'll be hiking in
The Varius Guide jacket is a zip-in compatible shell. It's pretty popular up here in Alaska. The Alliance shell is compatible but this one is hard to find..maybe it's an older model?
My daughter had a regular fleece North Face Jacket that she loved! She is hot natured and it was just enough to keep her warm in the winter. It is now part of a crime scene investigation and has been confiscated by the local Sheriff's Dept. (through no fault of hers) I want ot surprise her with another one but she has been asking for a "fuzzy" north face. I don't want to pay the high price for a Denali, will this one work pretty well? We live in MS so it's only int eh 30's in the winter time. She's not outside that much and has a heavy coat for that. What do you think?
