Compared to the last model of this pack, how well does the hydration

Compared to the last model of this pack, how well does the hydration shoulder sleeve appear to be insulated? I had a heck of a time with the water in my camelbak freezing because the pack was not well protected from the cold. Also, compared to the last model, is there an easier way to threat the line through the shoulder? I had to cut into the nylon beneath the zipper to feed it out.

for day touring this is the pack i grab. just the right size, weight, easy carry options. and, the white and black - penguin - color way jumps out visibly in a way that you would never expect. it somehow has the opposite effect than you would think and the white gets neon bright. easy to spot and be spotted.
