The North Face Nuptse Down Jacket - Women's

If it’s too cold to wear The North Face Women’s Nuptse Down Jacket, you must’ve exited our solar system. This coat is one of The North Face’s all-time best sellers, and it’s clear why. Lightweight, incredibly warm 700-fill goose down keeps you comfortable in the most brutal conditions, and it compresses easily for packing. Reinforced shoulders and a water-resistant finish make the Nuptse Jacket sturdy and practical, and a female-specific fit helps you feel like a lady from frigid base camp to the wintry city streets. Layer it under a shell to cruise comfortably all day on the coldest, wettest ski days. *Please note: TNF outerwear tends to run a larger than you might normally wear. Please consult the sizing chart to determine your proper TNF size.

Bottom Line: The utmost in warmth and versatility.

WORTH EVERY PENNY

I love, love, love this jacket. Bought it in black and it looks great. Beyond the looks- it fits perfectly, not at all boxy and is SUPER warm. I'm a 6ft tall girl and bought the jacket in a size medium and the sleeves are long enough. I'm super stoked!!

I want to get this coat in purple. Do you offer it in that color or is it just in the vest?

Love this jacket!

I'm 5'9" and 145 lbs and got a size large. It fits great even when I have a sweater on. I especially like the longer length for my longer torso. It is nice & warm for our Montana winters!

Does this jacket come with a hood? I'm about 5'5",

Does this jacket come with a hood? I'm about 5'5", 165lbs. Will this jacket look too puffy on me? Also, one more question... how does the jacket length run. I'm looking for a jacket that will rest or go a little below my hips.

Hi Ashley - This jacket does not have a hood. The Nuptse isn't one of the longer down jackets that The North Face makes, you might want to check out the Destiny Down or the Amore jacket. They both have insulated hoods, and also are a little longer than the Nuptse.
Hope this helps

A good coat but needed a size larger

By:
November 2, 2009

I am 5 5" / 145 lbs. I wanted to wear a M but it looked a little short I was convinced I could still get away with it fearing that a size up would be to huge. To bad for me that when the pockets were unzipped they bulged just enough to show that the jacket was to small. I exchanged for a L and was happily surprised that it still had the slim fit (for a puffy coat) that I wanted, looks long enough and no bulging pockets! It's big, warm and easy to throw on to go anywhere. Love it!

Write your question here...I just received this jacket and noticed

Write your question here...I just received this jacket and noticed the gadgets that control the drawstring for your waist are located in the inner part of the lining. Are they supposed to be like that or did I get a poorly constructed jacket? It makes it very difficult to adjust.
Thank you

That's where they're supposed to be. I guess it does make it a little inconvenient, but there's nothing "hanging out" on the jacket. Everything else about it is pretty great, so I guess it's just a matter of personal liking.

Maximum cold protection!

This is truly one of the best buys I have ever made in terms of outdoor gear/clothing. I have had this jacket for over 10 years (men's size S because I don't think they made womens 10 years ago) with no problems in workmanship or quality. I take it almost everywhere I go in the CO backcountry in all seasons as I get cold easily and quickly. It doesn't matter how cold you are...you put this on and you are toasty warm in 5 minutes max! In winter conditions, it is warmer than any other layer when you pair it with a shell. I have worn it in this configuration comfortably in both below-zero and cold/wet conditions. I wear it by itself for spring skiing with one thin wool layer under it. In the summer, I wear it in the morning and evenings in camp and use it as my pillow in the tent. I carry it in my pack for long climbs/hikes on the 14ers (it packs down to the size of one of those mini-watermelons). It's only weakness as a stand-alone jacket is wetness - but this goes for any down-filled thing. The "won't this make me look fat" girl instinct in you may be averse to the poofy look of it, but this is for function - it's the poofiness that provides for the lovely pillow of stationary warm air around your body. Finally...DO NOT fall for buying a cheaper jacket with a lower down "fill count"...it WILL be inferior!
