If it’s too cold to wear The North Face Women’s Nuptse Down Jacket, you must’ve exited our solar system. This coat is one of The North Face’s all-time best sellers, and it’s clear why. Lightweight, incredibly warm 700-fill goose down keeps you comfortable in the most brutal conditions, and it compresses easily for packing. Reinforced shoulders and a water-resistant finish make the Nuptse Jacket sturdy and practical, and a female-specific fit helps you feel like a lady from frigid base camp to the wintry city streets. Layer it under a shell to cruise comfortably all day on the coldest, wettest ski days. *Please note: TNF outerwear tends to run a larger than you might normally wear. Please consult the sizing chart to determine your proper TNF size.
Bottom Line: The utmost in warmth and versatility.
I absolutely love this jacket, and the new style is slightly more fitted than my two year old Nuptse. I basically live in the jacket because it's the only thing that keeps me warm, and I've worn it while skiing and had NO problems staying too warm if anything. While it does make me resemble the Michelin Man, I could care less-I just want to stay warm!
I purchased my North Face Jacket about 1 1/2 years ago. I live in the mountains of Alaska in Eagle River Valley outside of Anchorage. The jacket isn't warm at all except on days where the temperature is 25 degrees or warmer. The down in the upper arms of the jacket is non-existent. It basically is two layers of nylon. There isn't enough down to keep you warm, thus the lightweight of the jacket. If you purchase this jacket, better plan on wearing a good fleece jacket under this coat or you will freeze on cold those days below 25 degrees. Basically, you are buying a cheap coat with a big name. You get a better buy with LL Bean or Eddie Bauer.
My daughter got this for Christmas, she tried it on, I thought it was cute, but she said she felt like a giant marshmellow. So younger girls might not like this one. I sent it back and she chose the Denali instead.
i dont think your bad reviews are doing any good to the community. on the contrary, North Face is a big name, I doubt if they would lie about the content of Down in their jacket. since it states 700-fill and it comes with less, or if you suspect the jacket you got has less, or no Down in it, then NF are in for a lawsuit, or they gladly get their jacket back as I noticed even after a year they accept returns, or exchange. so I suspect you are a troll trying to defame NF jackets and you are not doing any good to other honest people like us who are trying to get a decent coat online. Get your bad reviews out of here.
I love, love, love this jacket. Bought it in black and it looks great. Beyond the looks- it fits perfectly, not at all boxy and is SUPER warm. I'm a 6ft tall girl and bought the jacket in a size medium and the sleeves are long enough. I'm super stoked!!
i just got this jacket to replace the Thunder Down i returned. I LOVE IT! it fits perfectly, it looks good and its WARM. the adjustable cuffs and waist band are great, the neck has enough fill to keep your neck warm without feeling strangled. highly recommend whether this is your only jacket or to add to a collection.
My wife needed a new winter coat and she absolutely loves it. We live I Chicago and it has been a cold winter and she has been plenty warm in the coat. My wife thinks anything below 50 is cold, so for her to think the coat is plenty warm says a lot.
Does this jacket come with a hood? I'm about 5'5", 165lbs. Will this jacket look too puffy on me? Also, one more question... how does the jacket length run. I'm looking for a jacket that will rest or go a little below my hips.
Hi Ashley - This jacket does not have a hood. The Nuptse isn't one of the longer down jackets that The North Face makes, you might want to check out the Destiny Down or the Amore jacket. They both have insulated hoods, and also are a little longer than the Nuptse. Hope this helps
This is truly one of the best buys I have ever made in terms of outdoor gear/clothing. I have had this jacket for over 10 years (men's size S because I don't think they made womens 10 years ago) with no problems in workmanship or quality. I take it almost everywhere I go in the CO backcountry in all seasons as I get cold easily and quickly. It doesn't matter how cold you are...you put this on and you are toasty warm in 5 minutes max! In winter conditions, it is warmer than any other layer when you pair it with a shell. I have worn it in this configuration comfortably in both below-zero and cold/wet conditions. I wear it by itself for spring skiing with one thin wool layer under it. In the summer, I wear it in the morning and evenings in camp and use it as my pillow in the tent. I carry it in my pack for long climbs/hikes on the 14ers (it packs down to the size of one of those mini-watermelons). It's only weakness as a stand-alone jacket is wetness - but this goes for any down-filled thing. The "won't this make me look fat" girl instinct in you may be averse to the poofy look of it, but this is for function - it's the poofiness that provides for the lovely pillow of stationary warm air around your body. Finally...DO NOT fall for buying a cheaper jacket with a lower down "fill count"...it WILL be inferior!
Write your question here...I just received this jacket and noticed the gadgets that control the drawstring for your waist are located in the inner part of the lining. Are they supposed to be like that or did I get a poorly constructed jacket? It makes it very difficult to adjust. Thank you
That's where they're supposed to be. I guess it does make it a little inconvenient, but there's nothing "hanging out" on the jacket. Everything else about it is pretty great, so I guess it's just a matter of personal liking.
My husband made me wait through weeks of very cold days/nights before I could have this jacket for Christmas. I returned it for another color but, other than that, I am very happy with it. Very warm and very comfortable. I ended up with an X-large to accomodate bulk underneath which some may or may not need or want. I would recommend this jacket to anyone.
YOU CAN ALWAYS TRUST BACKCOUNTRY FOR THEIR SPEEDY DELIVERY AND THEIR PRODUCTS. I JUST LOVE THE JACKET AND HAS KEPT ME WARM ON THOSE COLD NORTH EASTERN DAYS AND NIGHTS. THANK YOU AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. BACKCOUNTRY IS NUMBER 1 IN MY BOOK
Got one for me & another for my sister ( her christmas gift). Was exactly what I was looking for, very warm, looks great, not bulky. Great for the Northeast region of the US during winter seasons. If you want something for colder climates research the jacket and what cold temperatures it can withstand. The name holds true to the product! What really got me was the lifetime warranty, same as LL Bean. Thanks, BackCountry.
I ordered this jacket a few weeks before Christmas and got in within 2-3 days (Backcountry is awesome). It's warm and has a great fit. I ended up going up a size though to make sure I'd have room for sweaters/sweatshirts.
I bought this jacket Dec. 7th and, thankfully, it arrived the next day. It was 9 degrees and snowing in Denver, CO. I walked to class wearing only a t-shirt under my new North Face jacket. It is so warm and flattering on the body. I'm 5'6 and weigh 140. I ordered a medium, and it fits very well whether I have on a t-shirt or multiple layers of long-sleeve shirts. I'm very pleased with this purchase and the purchasing process.
I love this jacket, it is very warm! I am tall and the length actually works for me. The only thing I would do differently next time is order this jacket with a hood!!
Jacket fits great but for being slightly too short in the arms and torso for the lankier person. I'm 5'7", 120lbs and have a small. It's warm at -5 celsius and total inactivity but I honestly was expecting more warmth than it offers. I would layer with fleece or wool and, in wind, wear a shell.
One of the most popular down jackets on the market. I bought one of these for my mother as a gift and she gets cold extremely easy here in Utah. It fits a little big, as is stated in the tech specs. It fits similar to the Denali fleece with a loose fit. 700 fill down, with a large amount of it for the price. Very puffy and warm from what she has said. Great style, warmth and quality for a pretty low price comparativley to some other down jackets. Sure you might be paying a little more for "The North Face" logo but the quality is still there.
I'm 5'9" and 145 lbs and got a size large. It fits great even when I have a sweater on. I especially like the longer length for my longer torso. It is nice & warm for our Montana winters!
